Sharjah Consultative Council Highlights Legislative Achievements For Citizens' Well-Being

Dr. Abdullah Belhaif Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Consultative Council (SCC), praised the outcomes of the second session of the 11th legislative term, which concluded recently. He noted that this term was notably active, with numerous laws discussed and parliamentary questions raised. Additionally, council members increased their visits to government departments, enhancing institutional engagement across the emirate.

The second session saw a rise in council meetings, with 17 held compared to 12 in the previous term. The number of laws discussed doubled from 5 to 10, and submitted requests increased from 150 to 205. The session ended with 22 recommendations, twice as many as in the first session. These numbers highlight the council's commitment to addressing community issues and public affairs.

Council Focuses on Citizens' Well-Being Initiatives

Al Nuaimi emphasised that the council's effectiveness is measured by citizens' satisfaction with government services. Inside the council chambers, performance is meticulously evaluated. In collaboration with the Executive Council, proposals are submitted to His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.

Dialogue with institutions is driven by public concerns and focuses on addressing citizens' needs according to leadership’s vision prioritising individual well-being. The Chairman lauded Sharjah’s human-centric approach under the guidance of its ruler. He stressed service institutions' role in tackling social and health issues through strong community engagement.

He also highlighted successful collaboration among stakeholders, particularly government entities like the Sharjah Housing Department, which plays a crucial role in meeting citizens' needs. During this legislative term, the council aimed for a more institutionalised approach, moving from isolated efforts to addressing broader issues affecting all residents.

Commitment to Family Support

The Chairman commended ongoing initiatives supporting families and children in Sharjah and beyond. He acknowledged H.H. Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi's leadership in promoting a family-centred vision across the Arab world through institutions like Rubu' Qarn Foundation for Creating Future Leaders and Supreme Council for Family Affairs.

Al Nuaimi also recognised significant achievements of the Arab Child Parliament, which unites Arab children under one parliamentary roof. This platform allows discussions on major childhood issues and proposes suitable solutions.

The dedication of council members to overcoming obstacles and engaging actively with communities reflects their commitment to supporting citizens' aspirations. This approach ensures that Sharjah continues sharing its successful experiences beyond UAE borders.
