Sharjah Charity Readies For Major Zakat Al Fitr Distribution Ahead Of Eid
The Sharjah Charity International (SCI) has taken significant steps to ensure the timely distribution of Zakat al-Fitr ahead of Eid al-Fitr, with preparations to distribute 130,000 portions of rice to those in need. This initiative, part of the SCI's commitment to supporting eligible recipients during the holy month of Ramadan, involves a substantial allocation of AED3.2 million from its Ramadan fund for purchasing these portions.
Abdullah Sultan bin Khadem, the Executive Director of SCI, confirmed that the organization is ready to distribute these bags of rice across its headquarters and branches. The distribution targets registered individuals within the association's records, covering various regions such as Batayeh, Madam, Al Dhaid, Kalba, Khorfakkan, and Dibba Al-Hisn. This process is set to continue until the dawn of Eid al-Fitr, ensuring that aid reaches those eligible in time for the celebrations.

In addition to in-kind distributions, the SCI has streamlined the process for donors wishing to contribute their Zakat al-Fitr in cash. With a set value of AED25 per individual, donors have multiple channels at their disposal for making their contributions. These include the SCI's website, SMS codes for donations, credit card deductions, and modern payment methods such as Apple Pay and Samsung Pay. Furthermore, physical donation devices and collection boxes have been placed in public areas and stores across Sharjah and its Eastern and Central regions, facilitating easy access for benefactors to fulfill their Zakat obligations.
Bin Khadem emphasized the importance of community support in making these distributions possible. He highlighted the SCI's openness to receiving contributions from those who wish to delegate their Zakat distribution to the organization. By offering a variety of donation channels, the SCI aims to make the process as convenient as possible for benefactors while ensuring that aid reaches those most in need.
This initiative by the Sharjah Charity International underscores its ongoing commitment to providing support and relief to eligible recipients during significant Islamic occasions. Through careful planning and community involvement, the SCI continues to play a crucial role in upholding the spirit of giving and compassion that characterizes the month of Ramadan.
