Sharjah Chamber Discusses Strengthening Economic Cooperation With Belarus For Mutual Growth
The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) recently engaged in discussions with a diplomatic delegation from Belarus. The focus was on enhancing cooperation between the two nations' business communities. Held at SCCI’s headquarters, the meeting aimed to explore new avenues for bilateral growth in trade, investment, and tourism sectors, benefiting both parties.
Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of SCCI, emphasized the importance of this meeting as a step towards deepening economic ties. He highlighted the UAE-Belarus relationship as being based on a strong strategic vision that has fostered consistent trade growth. "The Sharjah Chamber is committed to transforming these robust relations into actionable business partnerships that open new horizons for fruitful cooperation serving the interests of both business communities," he stated.

Al Owais stressed the need for increased joint efforts to enhance trade and investment links. He advocated for effective partnerships between private sector entities in both countries, aligning with the potential and opportunities available in their markets. The UAE has become a key regional partner for Belarus, and Al Owais assured support for Belarusian companies interested in Sharjah’s investment climate.
Igor Bely, Ambassador of Belarus to the UAE, expressed gratitude to SCCI for their hospitality. He confirmed Belarus’ strategic intent to bolster cooperation with the UAE across various levels. During the meeting, Belarusian representatives detailed their main export products, including machinery, industrial equipment, agricultural goods like meat and wheat, timber, and furniture.
The Belarusian delegation provided a comprehensive catalogue of commercial offers from their companies. This covered sectors such as pharmaceuticals, heavy machinery, vehicles, chemicals and fertilisers, construction materials, textiles, leather goods, processed foods, dairy products, meats, and confectionery. Both sides acknowledged the value of reciprocal visits to allow entrepreneurs to understand each market's capabilities better.
Plans were revealed by the Belarusian delegation to send a combined trade and tourism mission to Sharjah next year. This initiative aims to strengthen bilateral business relations and forge new investment partnerships with counterparts in Sharjah. The meeting also discussed participation in international exhibitions hosted by both countries as vital for enhancing business ties.
Promoting International Collaboration
The Consul General of Belarus noted the successful participation of a Belarusian jewellery company in Sharjah’s Watch and Jewellery Middle East Show. This reflects Sharjah’s growing status as a commercial hub. Both parties agreed on advancing cooperation mechanisms and promoting information exchange aligned with emerging economic trends.
The discussions concluded with an agreement to support stronger trade ties through global exhibition participation. This collaboration aims to facilitate mutual understanding and partnership development between businesses from both regions.
