Sharjah Chamber Reaffirms Commitment To Strengthening Economic Ties With Pakistan's Business Community
The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) highlighted the robust business ties between Sharjah and Pakistan, rooted in a long-standing friendship between the UAE and Pakistan. The Chamber is dedicated to enhancing these relations into a strategic economic partnership, guided by the leadership of both nations and their successful business communities. These comments were made during a meeting with the Pakistan Business Council at Sharjah Maritime Museum to celebrate Pakistan’s Independence Day.
Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of SCCI, Hussain Muhammad, Consul General of Pakistan to Dubai and Northern Emirates, and Mohammad Ahmed Amin Al Awadi, Director-General of SCCI, attended the meeting. Also present were Abdulaziz Al Shamsi, Assistant Director-General for Communication and Business Sector at SCCI; Dr. Fatema Khalifa Al Muqarrab, Director of International Relations Department at SCCI; Dr. Syed Muhammad Tahir, Chairman of Pakistan Business Council in Sharjah, along with several council members.

Al Owais congratulated the Pakistan Business Council on Pakistan’s Independence Day during his opening remarks. He emphasised that the meeting aimed to strengthen the strategic economic partnership between the UAE and Pakistan. This partnership is characterised by strong economic momentum, with bilateral trade reaching US$10.9 billion in the 2023-2024 fiscal year.
The UAE has earmarked $10 billion for investment in promising sectors in Pakistan such as renewable energy, technology, and agriculture. This reflects a shift from mere trade relations to strategic investments. The growing trade relationship is transitioning towards more significant investments in high-potential areas.
Dr. Syed Muhammad Tahir expressed his appreciation to the Sharjah Chamber and its Chairman for celebrating Pakistan’s Independence Day. He noted that this gesture reflects the enduring relationship between both countries. "Sharjah stands as an ideal and supportive destination for Pakistani investors," he stated.
Tahir highlighted that thousands of Pakistani companies operate successfully within Sharjah, showcasing the emirate's vision in creating a competitive business environment. The substantial corporate presence demonstrates Sharjah's success in establishing a specialised business ecosystem.
Expanding Cooperative Frameworks
The Pakistan Business Council is committed to working with the Sharjah Chamber to expand cooperative frameworks. They aim to facilitate participation in trade exhibitions hosted by SCCI, including events like the Khorfakkan Mango Festival that promote Pakistani products while strengthening cultural and commercial ties with Sharjah.
This collaboration aims to enhance participation in various trade exhibitions organised by SCCI. Such events help promote Pakistani products and reinforce cultural connections with Sharjah.
The meeting underscored mutual efforts to advance economic partnerships through shared initiatives and investments. Both parties are keen on leveraging opportunities that benefit their respective economies while fostering stronger bilateral ties.
