Sharjah Airport Hosts 8.3 Million Passengers In H1 2024, Records 12.4% Growth
Sharjah Airport has seen a 12.4% rise in passenger numbers in the first half of 2024 compared to the same period last year. Over 8.3 million passengers passed through the airport in these six months. The airport also recorded a similar growth in aviation movement, with a 12.2% increase resulting in 52,702 flight movements.
The airport's cargo handling operations experienced significant growth, reaching 40.7%, totalling 97.2 thousand tonnes. Sea-air cargo operations also saw an increase of 17.5%, amounting to 7.4 thousand tonnes.

Ali Salim Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah Airport Authority (SAA), highlighted that the airport's strategic growth in travel, aviation, and cargo operations strengthens its regional leadership. He attributed this success to the airport's safe and seamless travel experience, innovative technologies, environmental sustainability standards, and high-quality services.
Sharjah Airport now serves over 100 international destinations through 26 airlines, including air cargo flights. Recent additions to its destinations include Greece and Poland via Air Arabia.
The Chairman praised the efforts of administrative and technical teams working around the clock to provide top-notch services for passengers and cargo beneficiaries. This dedication supports the airport's goal of becoming one of the top five regional airports by executing its new expansion project aimed at increasing capacity to 25 million passengers annually by the end of 2027.
