SEWA Implements Extensive Water Network Projects To Enhance Supply In Kalba

The Sharjah Electricity, Water, and Gas Authority (SEWA) is advancing its water projects in Kalba. From January to April, SEWA has focused on extending water pipelines. A notable project is the pipeline from Kalba to Wadi Al Helo, costing AED47 million, with 98% completion. Additionally, 59% of the Jabal Deem pipeline extension and 50% of the Transco line to the desalination plant are finished.

Yousef Al Hammadi, Director of SEWA's Kalba Department, highlighted recent achievements. These include a pipeline from the industrial area to Al Ghayl station for AED5 million and a main line replacement in Tareef 4 for AED1.6 million. A new water line was also extended to the new industrial area (Phase One) at AED4 million. Water connections were provided for various government and development projects.

SEWA Enhances Water Supply with New Projects

SEWA has installed primary pipelines spanning 2,184 meters across Kalba. The authority approved 104 water project plans and issued 93 land clearance certificates. Water services were connected to 119 properties, including residential and commercial ones. Additionally, SEWA replaced 168 meters of old main lines and tested 133 smart meters while issuing two well drilling permits.

Looking ahead, Al Hammadi outlined future plans for Kalba’s water infrastructure. These include constructing a reservoir with a capacity of 20 million gallons to meet increasing demand. Old AC lines will be replaced with GRE lines in Al Khuwair (Phase Two). New pipelines will support development projects like Al Hayar Lake and Jabal Deem’s main station.

Further developments involve extending a main line from the industrial area to Al Ghayl and completing the second phase of the water line extension to the new industrial area. In 2024, SEWA aims to lay an additional 6,897 meters of main pipelines across Kalba. They plan to approve more water project plans and issue additional land clearance certificates.

In addition to these efforts, SEWA connected water services to 718 properties in various sectors last year. They replaced 755 meters of old main lines and tested 351 smart meters while replacing another 62 meters. Four well drilling permits were also issued during this period.

These initiatives reflect SEWA's commitment to enhancing Kalba's water infrastructure efficiently. By addressing current needs and planning for future demands, SEWA ensures sustainable water management in the region.
