Sharjah Charity International Commits AED 164.5 Million Monthly Aid Over Ten Years To Combat Poverty
Sharjah Charity International (SCI) remains dedicated to its humanitarian mission, focusing on empowering those in need and supporting low-income families towards self-sufficiency. This aligns with the UAE's leadership vision, where charitable work is a national principle and a pillar for sustainable development. Sheikh Saqr bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, SCI's Chairman, highlighted this commitment during the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty on 17th October.
SCI aligns its programmes with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, particularly aiming to end poverty. Sheikh Saqr Al Qasimi emphasised that their efforts transform aid from temporary relief into empowerment tools, enabling families to become self-reliant and secure a better future for their children.

From 2014 to 2024, SCI has allocated over AED164.5 million for monthly assistance programmes targeting citizens and residents with limited income. These programmes support widows, divorcees, the elderly, and those unable to work. Such initiatives form the core of SCI’s domestic efforts, ensuring family stability and dignified living conditions.
The association has extended its aid scope internationally by providing nutritious food to vulnerable groups outside the UAE. This initiative has cost over AED216 million, distributing more than 12.3 million food baskets across various Asian and African countries. Additionally, SCI has delivered comprehensive healthcare to over 66,000 patients globally through medical campaigns aimed at alleviating suffering.
Sheikh Saqr noted that charitable work in the UAE has evolved into an integrated system based on values of giving and solidarity established by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. The current leadership continues to uphold these values, turning them into a tangible reality across the nation.
The Chairman affirmed that SCI’s initiatives ensure thousands of families live dignified lives while preserving their humanity. By focusing on both local and international aid efforts, SCI contributes significantly to sustainable development goals and humanitarian principles.
