School Of Life Projects Achieve Silver Medals At Beijing Youth Science Competition
Students from the STEM Club, part of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority's School of Life project, have excelled at the 44th Beijing Youth Science Creation Competition (BYSCC). They secured three silver medals and ranked second globally at this prestigious youth innovation event. This achievement highlights Dubai Culture's dedication to empowering young minds and establishing the emirate as a hub for culture, creativity, and talent.
The students' success followed an intensive eight-week training programme at Al Twar Public Library. This was part of the Impact Track, a core educational pathway within the STEM Club. Under expert guidance from Baseet mentors, students developed innovative technology projects that qualified for international competition.

The winning projects featured AI-driven solutions addressing environmental and societal issues. One project, led by Eng Mohamed Amarneh, involved students Adam Serhan, Sultan Ahmed Almarzooqi, Mohammed Ahmed Al Mansoori, and Zynah Mansoor. They created an ‘AI-Powered UAV System for Rapid Victim Detection in Natural Disasters,’ which uses advanced AI to locate victims swiftly during emergencies.
Another team, supervised by Eng Anas Habboub, included Saif Omar, Sarah Ali Majdalawi, Mohamed Hisham, Mohamed Salah, and Mohamed Yousef. They developed an ‘Intelligent Irrigation and Filtration System for Enhanced Sustainability in Precision Agriculture.’ This system optimises water usage by monitoring soil moisture and purifying water through integrated technologies.
The third project focused on sustainable waste management. Matteo Angelo Coo Tolentino, Aarav Agarwal, Amin Wahby, Joumanah Al Aidarous, Hayam Khalfan, and Alya Saif Ahmed Saeed worked under Eng Reem Siripl and Eng Nael Elashi. They designed an ‘AI-powered Smart Waste Sorting Bin’ that automatically sorts waste to promote efficient recycling practices.
Eiman Al Hammadi from Dubai Culture commented on these achievements: "This accomplishment embodies our ongoing investment in young talent and reinforces the vision of the School of Life as a dynamic model that transforms public libraries into vibrant community spaces. By merging knowledge with technology, these initiatives help develop cultural, creative, and life skills across generations."
International Representation
The UAE delegation to BYSCC 2025 included students from various schools such as the American School of Creative Science and Hemaya Schools. Their achievements are a testament to collaborative efforts and dedicated mentorship. These successes reflect the immense potential of the nation's youth on international platforms.
This remarkable performance underscores Dubai's commitment to nurturing future generations through innovative education programmes. The focus remains on equipping young innovators with skills needed to represent the UAE globally while fostering sustainable practices within communities.
