Alswaha At Davos Advances AI And Cloud Partnerships With Global Tech Leaders

Minister of Communications and Information Technology Abdullah Alswaha used meetings at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland to advance Saudi Arabia’s technology agenda. Alswaha engaged senior leaders from several global firms to strengthen cooperation in artificial intelligence, cloud computing, digital infrastructure, and innovation, supporting plans to position Saudi Arabia as an international centre for technology and AI investment.

The sessions focused on long-term partnerships that link advanced technologies with economic growth. Discussions covered expanding cloud regions, improving network performance, developing digital skills, and widening support for entrepreneurs. Through these engagements, officials and executives reviewed current projects, explored new investment opportunities, and aligned on how emerging technologies can back Saudi Arabia’s broader digital transformation plans.

Abdullah Alswaha met Microsoft Vice Chair and President Brad Smith to review strategic work in AI and cloud computing. Talks addressed building an economy where digital tools and AI applications support productivity and public services. In a separate meeting with Cisco Chair and Chief Executive Officer Chuck Robbins, Alswaha looked at network technology solutions and methods to speed up innovation across national digital infrastructure.

The minister also held joint discussions with President and CEO of Amazon Andy Jassy and Amazon Web Services Chief Executive Officer Matt Garman. They examined progress within their strategic partnership in AI and cloud services, assessed future plans for infrastructure expansion, and considered new programmes designed to empower entrepreneurs and start-ups in Saudi Arabia by providing access to advanced cloud platforms and technical expertise.

During talks with Senior Executive Vice President of Tencent and CEO of Cloud and Smart Industries Group Dowson Tong, Alswaha explored deeper collaboration in cloud computing and AI. The discussions included building digital capabilities, supporting technology innovation, and examining how Tencent’s experience in smart industries could complement Saudi Arabia’s digital projects across sectors such as services, government, and industry.

Abdullah Alswaha met Chairman, CEO and Co-Founder of Blackstone Stephen Schwarzman to consider wide investment prospects in Saudi Arabia. Topics included technology ventures, digital infrastructure, and data centres that could back growing cloud demand. In a separate session, the minister spoke with CEO of Sony Group Hiroki Totoki about expanding cooperation in digital technologies, AI solutions, and the creative content industry, including opportunities in gaming and media production.

Extending Saudi Arabia’s work in generative AI, Alswaha held talks with Cohere CEO Aidan Gomez. The meeting focused on developing large language models and practical uses that can support businesses, government services, and developers. Both sides discussed how such models may improve productivity, enable new digital products, and contribute to the broader ecosystem of technological innovation within Saudi Arabia and its regional markets.
