Saeed Ahmed Lootah Foundation Boosts Dubai's Healthcare With AED 15 Million Donation
In a significant boost to healthcare in Dubai, the Al Jalila Foundation has announced a generous donation of AED15 million from the Saeed Ahmed Lootah Charity Foundation. This contribution is earmarked for the development of the Hamdan Bin Rashid Cancer Hospital, poised to be Dubai's premier integrated cancer care facility. The hospital, which is set to open its doors in 2026, is named in honor of the late Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, celebrating his enduring legacy of service and philanthropy.
The establishment of this hospital is supported by donations from a wide array of benefactors, including philanthropists, government and non-government organizations, as well as businesses across the UAE. Eng. Hussain Nasser Lootah, a board member of the Saeed Ahmed Lootah Charity Foundation, expressed the foundation's commitment to supporting social responsibility initiatives, particularly in education and medical research. This commitment aligns with the vision of Lieutenant General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, who chairs the foundation's board.

Dr. Thani Al Mheriri, CEO of Education and Health at the Saeed Ahmed Lootah Charity Foundation, highlighted the foundation's long-standing dedication to healthcare and medical education. This is exemplified by its role in establishing the Dubai Medical College for Girls four decades ago, the Gulf region's first medical school for women.
Dr. Amer Al Zarooni, CEO of Al Jalila Foundation, underscored the critical role of donor support in realizing the vision for the Hamdan Bin Rashid Cancer Hospital. He emphasized that this partnership with the Saeed Ahmed Lootah Charity Foundation is instrumental in advancing cancer care and supporting patients and their families in the UAE.
The upcoming 116-bed facility will span 56,000 square metres and offer a comprehensive range of services. These include outpatient, ambulatory, diagnostic, inpatient, and surgical services. The hospital aims to provide personalized patient care within a nurturing environment. It will also feature a multidisciplinary team of specialized nursing staff to deliver a full spectrum of care services from early diagnosis to treatment and supportive care.
As part of Dubai Health's integrated academic health system, the cancer hospital will adhere to a "Patient First" promise. This includes offering select treatments and services at patients' homes to ensure an accessible continuum of care. This initiative marks a significant step towards enhancing cancer care in Dubai and reflects the collaborative efforts of various stakeholders committed to healthcare excellence.
