Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA) has announced a significant rise in tourism for the first half of 2025. The emirate welcomed over 654,000 visitors, marking a 6% increase compared to the previous year. Additionally, tourism revenues saw a 9% boost. Raki Phillips, CEO of RAKTDA, stated that these results highlight the effectiveness of their tourism strategy.
The emirate achieved its highest-ever visitor numbers for a six-month period. Key markets contributing to this growth included India with a 25% increase, China at 9.2%, Russia at 7%, and the UK at 5%. Moreover, there was a notable rise in MICE and weddings revenues by 36%. Direct flights from countries like Romania and Poland also played a crucial role.

RAKTDA is focused on expanding its hospitality offerings to accommodate more tourists. Several new hotel projects are underway, such as Fairmont Al Marjan Island with 250 rooms and Four Seasons Resort at Mina Al Arab offering 150 rooms. These developments aim to double the number of hotel keys by 2030.
The emirate's airport has been instrumental in boosting connectivity with new direct routes from cities like Warsaw, Katowice, Bucharest, Moscow, Tashkent, and Prague. Plans are in place to further expand the airport's capacity and improve the arrival experience for visitors.
Strategic partnerships have been established to support destination growth. Agreements with Fujairah Adventures aim to develop inter-Emirate itineraries. Collaborations with online travel agencies in China and Saudi Arabia are expected to increase inbound travel significantly.
Innovative Digital Initiatives
In digital innovation, RAKTDA has signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with Huawei and Web3 platform Open World. These partnerships focus on advancing smart tourism through technology and enhancing visitor engagement using blockchain solutions.
The emirate hosted several major events that attracted large crowds. The Ras Al Khaimah Half Marathon saw over 10,000 participants. Other events included the UAE Tour Jebel Jais stage and the Ras Al Khaimah Championship on the DP World Tour.
Outdoor Sports Tourism
The introduction of the Jais Ride cycling challenge further established Ras Al Khaimah as a hub for outdoor sports tourism. This event complements other activities like hiking adventures that draw enthusiasts from across the region.
Overall, Ras Al Khaimah's strategic initiatives in tourism development have yielded impressive results in visitor numbers and revenue growth. With ongoing projects and collaborations, the emirate is well-positioned to achieve its goal of welcoming over 3.5 million visitors annually by 2030 while ensuring sustainable value creation.
