Korean President Lee Jae-myung Explores Cultural Significance At Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque In Abu Dhabi
Lee Jae-myung, the President of South Korea, recently toured the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi. Accompanying him were First Lady Kim Hea Kyung, Khaldoun Khalifa Al Mubarak, and Abdulla Saif Al Nuaimi, among others. The visit included several Korean ministers and senior officials.
Dr. Yousif Abdallah Alobaidli, Director-General of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre, welcomed the delegation. He led them through the mosque’s halls and courtyards while explaining its historical significance. Dr. Alobaidli emphasised the mosque's cultural message of promoting coexistence and tolerance, inspired by the UAE’s Founding Father.

Cultural tour specialist Fatima bint Hashim provided insights into the mosque’s artistic and architectural features in Korean. She highlighted how Islamic art and design have evolved over time. The tour demonstrated how various architectural styles blend seamlessly within the mosque, symbolising cultural unity.
The delegation also visited the mausoleum of Sheikh Zayed. They reflected on his wisdom and vision for peace, which continues to influence the UAE's culture of tolerance today. This part of the visit underscored Sheikh Zayed's lasting impact on fostering a harmonious society.
As a token of appreciation, President Lee received a commemorative gift showcasing the mosque’s artistic beauty. Additionally, he was given a copy of "Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque: Lights of Peace." This publication highlights the mosque’s unique architectural style through award-winning photographs from the "Spaces of Light" competition.
The tour also highlighted how the centre plays a crucial role in encouraging cross-cultural dialogue globally. By enhancing understanding between different civilizations, it contributes to a more connected world.
