Big Milestone: Oman Achieves Over Half Of Its Employment Target For 2024
The Ministry of Labour in Oman has announced significant progress in its employment initiatives for the first half of 2024. Over 50% of the employment target has been achieved between January and June.
A total of 14,074 Omani citizens found jobs across both public and private sectors during this period. The ministry's data reveals that 30,394 positions were filled, with more than half being first-time jobs for the employees.
The ministry set a goal to employ 10,000 job seekers in the government sector. So far, 6,963 positions have been filled. In the private sector, the target was to employ 16,000 job seekers, with 7,111 successfully securing jobs.
In terms of training linked to employment, 1,412 individuals completed their training programs. This represents a completion rate of 16%. The government sector welcomed 305 trainees, while the private sector accommodated 1,107 trainees during the first half of the year.
The Ministry of Labour is also focusing on enhancing employability through various training initiatives. The ministry aims to provide employment and training opportunities to 35,000 job seekers this year. So far, they have completed 15,486 jobs and training opportunities, marking a completion rate of 44.25%.
The ministry's goal is to train 2,000 individuals in the government sector and 7,000 in the private sector throughout the year. These efforts are part of a broader strategy to improve employment rates in Oman.
Overall, the Ministry of Labour's initiatives are yielding positive results in improving employment rates across Oman. The focus on both immediate job placements and long-term employability through training is showing promising outcomes.
