NYU Abu Dhabi Hosts Commencement Ceremony For Class Of 2025 Graduates
New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) recently celebrated its 12th commencement ceremony, recognising the achievements of the Class of 2025. This event marked a significant milestone as it featured the largest graduating class since the university's establishment in 2011, with around 530 students from over 85 countries taking part.
The ceremony was graced by several dignitaries and members of NYU's leadership. Notable attendees included Evan R. Chesler, Chair of the NYU Board of Trustees; Rima Al Mokarrab, an NYU Trustee; and Linda Mills, President of NYU. The keynote address was delivered by Andrew Feustel, a former NASA astronaut and geophysicist.

NYUAD is renowned for its selectivity in admissions, accepting only about four percent of applicants for the Class of 2025. This exclusivity aligns with the standards of top-tier US universities. The institution is ranked among the top 35 globally by Times Higher Education, making it the highest-ranked university in both the UAE and MENA region.
The student body at NYUAD comprises approximately 2,200 undergraduates and graduates from diverse backgrounds. The university has produced notable scholars, including 24 Rhodes Scholars, 20 Schwarzman Scholars, and 16 Fulbright Scholars to date.
In his speech, Andrew Feustel emphasised the importance of seizing opportunities and fulfilling obligations. He stated: "It’s been said that luck is where preparation meets opportunity, and with opportunity comes obligation. You now have an opportunity to launch from this place and continue your life mission. You also have an obligation to strive to work to the best of your ability to reach your mission objectives along this path."
The Class of 2025 has excelled academically and engaged actively in extracurricular activities during their time at NYUAD. Students participated in various clubs and athletic groups while fostering connections within the Abu Dhabi community.
This commencement ceremony not only celebrated academic achievements but also highlighted NYUAD's commitment to nurturing future leaders who are prepared to make significant contributions globally.
