NCEMA Celebrates The Contributions Of Volunteers In National Programme For Building Specialised Volunteer Cadres

The National Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) recently marked International Volunteer Day. This celebration underscores the importance of volunteerism in Emirati culture, reflecting the UAE leadership's vision to empower citizens for national development and promote a culture of giving and social responsibility.

NCEMA's celebration aligns with the UAE’s commitment to enhancing humanitarian efforts and community involvement. It highlights the crucial role volunteers play in supporting national responses during crises, embodying the spirit of solidarity and compassion inherent in the Emirati identity.

NCEMA Recognises Volunteers on International Volunteer Day

During the event, NCEMA acknowledged volunteers involved in the National Programme for Building Specialised Volunteer Cadres. Their significant contributions to community readiness and national response frameworks were celebrated, showcasing their dedication to these vital causes.

The initiative saw participation from over 350 volunteers across various specialisations. These included healthcare, firefighting, rescue operations, crowd management, and UAE Mission Support – Nation of Humanity. This diversity illustrates the unity within the national volunteer ecosystem.

NCEMA places a strong emphasis on developing volunteer skills through specialised programmes. These initiatives ensure sustainability in emergency, crisis, and disaster management fields. The National Programme for Building Specialised Volunteer Cadres is a key platform for preparing skilled volunteers for field operations.

This programme operates within an integrated national framework. It collaborates with multiple sectors and strategic partners to train volunteers with specialised skills that enhance the UAE’s emergency response capabilities.

Collaborative Efforts for Capacity Building

The programme exemplifies national integration through partnerships with key organisations like Emirates Red Crescent Authority, Emirates Foundation, PureHealth, Civil Defence, and Fatima College of Health Sciences. These partners are crucial in capacity-building efforts by designing training programmes and overseeing skill application in real-world scenarios.

Ali Saeed Al Neyadi, Chairman of NCEMA, stated: "Today, we honour exemplary citizens who, through their spirit of volunteerism, have embodied the essence of belonging and generosity. Volunteerism in the UAE is not merely an act of goodwill; it is a national duty that reflects the vision of our leadership to build a cohesive, resilient society capable of facing any challenge."

Future Initiatives for Community Readiness

NCEMA concluded by reaffirming its commitment to promoting volunteerism and community preparedness through targeted national initiatives. The authority encourages all citizens to join volunteer networks to help build a more prepared and united UAE.
