Dubai: Nakheel Awards Dh810 Million For Marine Works At Palm Jebel Ali
Nakheel, part of Dubai Holding Real Estate, has awarded a contract worth Dh810 million to Jan De Nul Dredging LTD for marine works on Palm Jebel Ali. This company, part of the international Jan De Nul Group, will handle dredging, land reclamation, beach profiling, and sand placement. These activities support villa construction across all fronds.
Mobilisation activities have already started, with Jan De Nul Dredging expected to finish the marine works in just over two years. The first eight fronds should be site-ready by early 2025, allowing villa infrastructure and civil works to begin.

Nakheel recently awarded two major infrastructure contracts. Work has begun on a new public access road from Sheikh Zayed Road and enhancements to roadways and lighting from the mainland to Palm Jebel Ali. These developments are crucial for improving connectivity and accessibility.
Palm Jebel Ali was unveiled by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The project aims to offer luxury lifestyle amenities for residents, families, and visitors. It supports the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 and marks a new growth corridor in the Jebel Ali area.
Khalid Al Malik, CEO of Dubai Holding Real Estate, stated: "Partnering with Jan De Nul Dredging reflects our unwavering commitment to excellence and innovation. As Nakheel intensifies its development activity under Dubai Holding, the expertise of Jan De Nul Dredging in marine, civil construction and environmental projects is pivotal as we accelerate progress on this transformational development."
Aligned with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan vision, Palm Jebel Ali aims to become a global destination offering luxurious waterfront lifestyles. Residents will enjoy sweeping beachfronts and pristine waters while experiencing high-quality living standards and sustainability.
Last year saw the launch of over 700 units of Phase 1 frond villas at Palm Jebel Ali. These villas feature eight unique styles that blend indoor and outdoor living in a serene coastal setting. Infrastructure and marine works progress directly supports delivering these homes by late 2026.
The island will eventually span 13.4 kilometres with 16 fronds and 91 kilometres of beachfront. This aligns with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan's goal of expanding public beach access.
Nakheel’s projects contribute significantly to realising Dubai’s vision through iconic master communities and residential developments.
