This event was organised by Al Multaqa Literary Salon to mark its 30th anniversary. The exhibition coincides with the "Year of Community" and "Abu Dhabi Art," showcasing literature's influence on contemporary art forms. It features Emirati artists who reinterpret literary works through various mediums like visual arts, music, and crafts. This celebration highlights how literature transcends pages to inspire paintings, melodies, and imagination.
Nahyan bin Mubarak expressed joy in celebrating the Salon's anniversary. He stated, "We are delighted today to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Al Multaqa Literary Salon, which stands as an inspiring model in supporting cultural and creative movements across the United Arab Emirates, and in promoting dialogue and understanding within society."
He further noted that the UAE values culture and arts under President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan's leadership. This focus has made the country a global hub for cultural dialogue and creativity. The exhibition embodies a unique artistic vision that transforms literature into vivid art forms.
The exhibition is not just about art; it celebrates the UAE’s cultural memory. Nahyan bin Mubarak remarked that creativity in the UAE continues to thrive, spreading messages of tolerance and humanity worldwide. He praised Al Multaqa Literary Salon for enriching literary awareness and promoting diverse cultures.
Asma Seddeq Al-Mutawa shared insights on the exhibition's concept: "As a UNESCO-recognised book club, Al Multaqa Literary Salon is a community space that nourishes thought and encourages dialogue, inspiring a generation of women through literature." She emphasised how shared passion for literature has united them over three decades.
Emirati Heritage Through Art
The artworks featured embody texts discussed during Salon sessions, conveying Emirati heritage as a vibrant part of identity. Al-Mutawa added that "Off Script" is more than an exhibition; it represents stories and values shaping identity through time-traveling artworks.
She extended gratitude to Sheikh Nahyan for his support and to participating artists who brought the Year of Community’s ethos to life. Their art deepens pride in cultural heritage while inspiring new ways to carry it forward.
A Journey of Creativity
"Off Script" showcases works by thirty leading Emirati artists inspired by books discussed at the Salon. The exhibition visually translates literary narratives through painting, sculpture, installation, and digital arts. It adds a new chapter to Al Multaqa Literary Salon’s history.
