MoIAT Enhances Competitiveness Of Emirati Products With Updated National Conformity Marks And Efficiency Labels
The Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT) has revised 12 national conformity marks and efficiency labels. This aligns with the National Strategy for Industry and Advanced Technology, also known as Operation 300bn, and supports the Make it in the Emirates initiative. The goal is to boost the competitiveness of Emirati products both locally and globally while attracting new investments.
These updates introduce a fresh visual identity for badges and labels. A transitional period allows manufacturers and suppliers time to adapt to new procedures. Products already in local markets have a 12-month transition period, while imported products have six months to comply.

The updated conformity marks include various labels such as the UAE Standards and Metrology Mark, National Conformity Mark "Compliant", Oxo-Biodegradable Plastic Products Mark, Verified Conformity Mark for Legal Measurement Instruments, Environmental Mark, Free-Range Chicken Mark, Made in the Emirates Mark, Energy Efficiency Label for Electrical Appliances, Water Efficiency Label, RFID Tire Label, and Environmental Performance Label for Paints and Varnishes.
Omar Al Suwaidi, Under-Secretary of MoIAT, stated that enhancing Emirati product competitiveness aligns with Operation 300bn. He noted that updating national conformity marks will strengthen Emirati products' positions in regional and global markets while supporting companies aiming to produce high-quality goods.
Al Suwaidi highlighted that the UAE's quality infrastructure system ranks fifth in this year’s Quality Infrastructure for Sustainable Development Index. This ranking is from the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the International Network on Quality Infrastructure (INet QI). It reflects ongoing collaboration with government entities and private sector companies to boost performance, productivity, and industrial competitiveness.
He expressed pride in Emirati products bearing the Made in the Emirates Mark. These products stand out internationally due to their superior quality. Enhancing national conformity marks aims to facilitate trade by removing technical barriers and unlocking more investment opportunities.
Commitment to Global Standards
A national market survey by MoIAT in 2023 demonstrated a 93 percent product compliance rate with UAE standards in local markets. This underscores the strength of the country's quality infrastructure. It boosts consumer confidence and contributes positively to national economic growth.
The resolution aims to improve product quality and export capabilities through continuous collaboration with federal and local governments alongside private sector partners. By doing so, it enhances performance, productivity, and industrial competitiveness.
