MOI Organises Virtual Event To Commemorate International Day Of Police Cooperation
The Ministry of Interior (MOI) recently hosted an online event to celebrate the International Day of International Police Cooperation, which takes place annually on 7th September. The event included a forum titled "The Role of International Police Agencies in Enhancing Community Security." This gathering brought together representatives from police ministries, institutions, and organisations worldwide, along with law enforcement and security experts.
Keynote speakers at the event included Major General Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, President of INTERPOL; Ambassador Dr. Iman Ahmed Al Salami, UAE Ambassador to Tunisia; and Lieutenant Colonel Dana Hamid Al Marzouqi, Director-General of the International Affairs Office at the Ministry of Interior. Other notable speakers were Elena Otamendi from the Spanish Ministry of Interior and Irakli Beridze from the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute.

The forum focused on the crucial role that international collaboration plays in bolstering community security globally. Discussions emphasised how cooperation among international police agencies is essential for maintaining societal safety and stability. Sharing expertise and information was highlighted as vital for enhancing police agencies' ability to tackle new threats effectively.
Speakers stressed that unified efforts are necessary to combat organised crime, cybercrime, and illicit trafficking. They discussed developing mechanisms for joint policing to address these escalating global security challenges. The importance of integrating international efforts to strengthen societal security was a key theme throughout the discussions.
Participants also delved into leading global experiences and best practices in inter-agency coordination. They highlighted how strategic international partnerships support preventive measures and contribute to a more resilient security framework both regionally and globally. These partnerships are seen as crucial for fostering a comprehensive approach to security challenges.
The session was moderated by Lieutenant Colonel Hassan Al Badawi from the Khalifa Empowerment Programme (Aqdar). Representatives from the GCC States General Secretariat, including Advisor Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Al Kaabi of the Gulf Police Force, as well as Danny Altouz from Europol, contributed their insights during the discussions.
The event underscored that international police cooperation is fundamental for safeguarding societies against emerging threats. By sharing capabilities and information, police agencies can better prepare for future challenges, ensuring a stable and secure environment worldwide.
