MoHAP Initiates Training Workshops To Elevate School Nursing Competencies

The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) has conducted a series of training workshops to enhance the skills of school health staff. These workshops aim to improve their cognitive abilities, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of students' health data. This initiative supports the National Programme to Combat Obesity among Children and Adolescents.

Held at various locations including the Ministry’s headquarters in Dubai, the Teacher Training Institute in Ajman, and Sharjah, the workshops targeted school nurses and physical education support staff. The focus was on recording anthropometric measurements for students aged 5 to 17.

Boosting School Nursing Skills

The workshops aimed to develop standardised protocols for collecting and analysing data related to early obesity indicators. This approach is expected to improve preventive health policies and enable more informed decision-making based on precise scientific evidence.

The four-day training sessions included several sub-sessions as part of MoHAP's strategy to manage preventive and community health programmes. These efforts are designed to enhance the quality of life nationwide by ensuring accurate data collection for the National Programme to Combat Obesity among Children and Adolescents.

One key aspect of these workshops was training participants on how to fill out student data record forms correctly and completely. This step is crucial for maintaining high-quality data within the National Programme to Combat Obesity in Children and Adolescents.

Dr. Hussain Abdul Rahman Al Rand, Assistant Under-Secretary for the Public Health Sector, highlighted that this training workshop is part of MoHAP's ongoing efforts to promote community health. He stated, "It is one of several initiatives aimed at equipping school health staff with the latest knowledge and skills necessary to provide exceptional health care for children."

The workshops also aimed at promoting public health among community members, especially school students. By focusing on accurate data collection, these sessions contribute significantly towards achieving the objectives of the National Programme to Combat Obesity in Children and Adolescents.

This initiative underscores MoHAP's commitment to managing preventive health programmes effectively. By enhancing the skills of school health staff, MoHAP aims to ensure that students' health data is both accurate and reliable, thereby supporting better health outcomes for children across the nation.
