MoHAP And Emirates Autism Society Collaborate To Enhance Support For Individuals With Autism
The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) and the Emirates Autism Society (EAS) have formalised a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This agreement aims to bolster support for individuals with autism, reinforcing the UAE's leadership in aiding people of determination. The focus is on fostering a healthier, inclusive community that integrates autistic individuals effectively.
Dr. Hussain Abdul Rahman Al Rand, Assistant Under-Secretary for the Public Health Sector at MoHAP, and Majid Sultan Al Muhairi, Chairman of the Board of Emirates Autism Society, signed the MoU in Dubai. Senior officials from both organisations were present during this event. The collaboration seeks to empower autistic individuals to participate actively in their communities while enhancing healthcare providers' ability to support them.

The MoU outlines five initiatives, including launching the "Autism Ambassador" programme with the World Health Organisation. This programme will train and support families and caregivers. Another initiative involves organising a workshop to address climate change's impact on autistic children's health and well-being, aiming to strengthen community responses.
A digital platform will also be developed to improve access for people with autism to various services and benefits offered by the country. This initiative is part of MoHAP's efforts to achieve the National Strategy for Wellbeing 2031 goals.
Dr. Hussain Al Rand emphasised that this partnership supports the UAE’s commitment to empowering people of determination. He stated, "Our goal is to build a nurturing environment where they can grow and thrive, as we work toward a brighter, more inclusive future for everyone." The collaboration aims at providing necessary care and support, especially in healthcare, while uplifting families as active partners in their journey.
Saqr Al Hemeiri, Director of the Strategy and Future Department at MoHAP, noted that the MoU represents a strategic step in supporting people with autism. It introduces innovative initiatives like the "Quality of Healthy Life Initiative for People with Autism," offering comprehensive health evaluations through regular check-ups.
Community Support Initiatives
The "Community Support Initiative for People with Autism" extends assistance through MoHAP's representative offices. This ensures essential resources are available to individuals with autism and their families. These efforts aim to safeguard their rights and enhance their quality of life.
Majid Al Muhairi expressed commitment towards creating an environment where autistic individuals feel supported both socially and health-wise. He stated, "We’re committed to working with government and private partners to create an environment where people with autism can truly feel supported."
Al Muhairi added that sustainable initiatives are being developed to raise awareness about autism within communities. These efforts aim to make a significant difference in the lives of autistic individuals and their families while ensuring long-term support aligns with the National Strategy for Wellbeing 2031.
