Mohammed Bin Rashid Library Concludes Successful Dubai International Library & Publishing Summit 2025
The Mohammed bin Rashid Library recently wrapped up the second edition of the Dubai International Library and Publishing Summit 2025. This event, themed ‘The Future of the Publishing Industry’, spanned three days and attracted over 80 speakers from 20 countries. The summit featured five keynote speakers, 48 panel discussions, and more than 20 workshops, showcasing a significant increase in participation compared to last year.
Attendance figures showed notable growth, with registration numbers rising by 27.3% and participation rates increasing by 31.5%. The diversity of attendees also expanded by 33%, reflecting the summit's growing international appeal. The number of international speakers increased by 50% compared to the first edition, highlighting the summit's success in attracting a broader audience both locally and globally.

Mohammed Ahmed Al Murr, Chairman of Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Library Foundation, highlighted the summit's role in advancing the publishing industry. "The second edition of the Dubai International Library and Publishing Summit marked a new milestone in promoting the publishing industry. It discussed the future of this sector and how it is built on the integration of human creativity and advanced technologies," he stated.
Al Murr emphasised that digital transformation is essential for today's era, which thrives on open knowledge. He noted that cultural convergence between content, knowledge, and technology necessitates new systems that balance human values with technological innovation. These systems should foster culture as a bridge for dialogue rather than division.
The summit covered various topics including innovation, technology, global publishing trends, writing craft, book art, translation, and purposeful publishing. There was a strong focus on digital transformation in publishing while balancing traditional media. Workshops aimed at enhancing skills in translation, editing, printing, sustainability, and ethical practices were also offered.
Day one featured sessions like Theory for Robots: The Impact of AI on Creativity and Publishing; Selling and Buying International Rights; and The Art of the Illustrated Book. These discussions provided insights into aligning Arab creativity with global standards using modern technologies.
Exploring Literary Creativity
The second day delved into literary creativity within publishing through sessions on translation and children's story writing. Workshops focused on manuscript editing and bookbinding while advanced discussions explored academic publishing, cross-border initiatives, diversity in reading habits as well as building successful plans for authorship.
Day three addressed literary awards' influence on shaping markets alongside advanced workshops dedicated to writing children's books or illustrating them effectively under copyright considerations amidst AI advancements.
Strengthening Cultural Ties
The Mohammed Bin Rashid Library announced its new publishing arm aimed at translating works into Arabic from various languages during this eventful summit period—an initiative marking significant progress toward solidifying its role within knowledge production circles globally while enriching Arabic content further still.
The tenth edition announcement regarding Mohammed bin Rashid Arabic Language Award was another highlight underlining ongoing efforts towards supporting Arabic language initiatives across different platforms worldwide through collaboration among stakeholders involved therein too!
