Mohammed Ben Sulayem Re-elected As President Of FIA, Promising Continued Governance And Financial Stability
The Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) has announced that Mohammed Ben Sulayem has been re-elected as its President. This decision was made by the General Assembly in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Mohammed Ben Sulayem will now embark on his second four-year term, having initially taken office in 2021.
During his first term, the FIA experienced significant changes and improvements. The organisation enhanced its governance and operations while restoring financial stability. These efforts have reinforced the FIA's role as a leading authority in motorsport and mobility worldwide.

Under Mohammed Ben Sulayem's leadership, the FIA reversed a €24 million loss in 2021 to achieve a €4.7 million operating result in 2024. This is the strongest financial outcome for the federation in nearly a decade. The FIA also forecasts a €4.4 million operating result for 2025, indicating ongoing financial improvement.
This financial stability has allowed for increased investment in Member Clubs and strategic programmes globally. The organisation has focused on long-term growth and development through these initiatives.
The past four years have seen extensive institutional reforms within the FIA. These include improved budgetary discipline, enhanced external audit processes, and modernised governance structures. Such changes have led to greater transparency, accountability, and professional standards across the organisation.
The FIA has also established a commercial function and strengthened its global identity in motorsport and mobility. This includes expanding regional development activities, supporting grassroots participation, and engaging with international partners on safety and sustainable mobility issues.
Commitment to Members and Democratic Process
Mohammed Ben Sulayem expressed gratitude to the FIA Members for their overwhelming support: "Thank you to all our FIA Members for voting in remarkable numbers and placing your trust in me once again. We have overcome many obstacles but here today, together, we are stronger than ever." He emphasised his commitment to delivering results for motorsport, mobility, and Member Clubs worldwide.
The election process adhered to the FIA’s statutes, ensuring a robust and transparent voting procedure. This reflects the democratic principles of the federation and represents the collective voice of its global membership.
The re-election of Mohammed Ben Sulayem marks a continuation of his efforts to enhance the FIA's influence in motorsport and mobility sectors globally. His leadership aims to further strengthen these areas while maintaining financial health and institutional integrity.
