Mohamed Bin Zayed University Enrols Students In New Linguistic And Cultural Immersion Programme
The Mohamed Bin Zayed University for Humanities (MBZUH) has launched its first Linguistic and Cultural Immersion programme, enrolling 24 students from various countries. Running until 21st December 2024, this initiative aims to foster cultural communication based on shared human values while promoting the UAE's positive image. Participants will explore Emirati society's noble values through this immersive experience.
Students in the programme will delve into the UAE's rich heritage, which is deeply connected to its customs and traditions. This offers a unique opportunity for global participants to engage with Emirati culture more profoundly. They will interact with different community segments to learn about local customs, folklore, and traditional medicine.

The programme includes intensive workshops designed to improve students' Arabic speaking and writing abilities. Additionally, literary reading sessions are part of the curriculum to deepen their understanding of the Arabic language. These activities aim to enhance linguistic proficiency among participants.
Participants will also visit several sites in Abu Dhabi, including art and culture museums, historical buildings, and festivals. They will have the chance to attend national and cultural events among 60 diverse activities organised by MBZUH. These experiences provide a comprehensive view of Emirati culture and history.
Dr. Khalifa Al Dhaheri, Chancellor of MBZUH, highlighted that this initiative aligns with the university's vision of fostering commonalities among people. He emphasised that it enhances human communication by bridging gaps between nations through language and cultural engagement.
Dr. Al Dhaheri stated that the programme underscores the university’s belief in promoting coexistence and tolerance. It contributes to societal security and stability by building individuals who value dialogue among civilisations as a path toward mutual respect for cultural diversity.
Cultural Communication as a Way of Life
According to Dr. Al Dhaheri, "The Linguistic and Cultural Immersion programme embodies the role of educational institutions in instilling the concept of cultural communication in students, making it a way of life." He noted that it represents a qualitative shift in efforts to bridge intersecting civilisations through practical experiences.
This initiative fosters tolerance through direct dialogues and activities offering insights into authentic Arab customs rooted in rich heritage. By engaging students in these experiences, MBZUH aims to create a civilised individual capable of contributing positively to global society.
