Mohamed Bin Zayed University For Humanities And University Of Chinguetti Sign Agreement To Enhance Academic Collaboration
The Mohamed Bin Zayed University for Humanities has partnered with the University of Chinguetti in Mauritania. This collaboration aims to offer scholarships for graduate students, facilitate faculty and student exchanges, and organise joint cultural and academic events. Additionally, the agreement focuses on developing educational programmes and curricula to enhance academic cooperation between the two institutions.
The partnership aligns with Mohamed Bin Zayed University for Humanities' strategy to expand its network in higher education and research. It aims to strengthen its regional and international standing, reflecting the UAE's vision of academic excellence. The agreement was formalised by Dr. Khalifa Mubarak Al Dhaheri, Chancellor of Mohamed Bin Zayed University for Humanities, and Dr. Muhammad Taqi Allah Ould Talib Jeddo, President of the University of Chinguetti.

Present at the signing ceremony were notable figures such as Dr. Omar Habtoor Al Darei, Chairman of the UAE’s General Authority of Islamic Affairs; Dr. Sidi Yahya Ould Cheikhna Ould Lemrabet, Mauritania’s Minister of Islamic Affairs; Hamad Ghanem Hamad Al Mheiri, UAE Ambassador to Nouakchott; and Beitallah Ould Ahmed Lasoud, Secretary-General of Mauritania’s Ministry of Islamic Affairs.
The agreement also includes initiatives to boost research capabilities through exchanging research projects, studies, and articles. These will be published in peer-reviewed journals from both universities. This aspect of the partnership is crucial for enhancing the academic output and visibility of both institutions.
Further cooperation involves collaboration with the Centre for the Revival of Mahdhar Heritage on manuscript development. The universities will exchange expertise in library and technical development while sharing publications and research journals. This initiative aims to preserve cultural heritage while advancing academic resources.
Dr. Al Dhaheri highlighted that this partnership marks a significant step towards reinforcing Mohamed Bin Zayed University for Humanities' status as a leading academic institution. He noted that it builds on their expanding network of agreements with educational and cultural bodies worldwide.
This collaboration represents a strategic move to foster educational ties between the UAE and Mauritania. By focusing on shared goals in education and research, both universities aim to achieve mutual benefits that align with their broader objectives in academia.
