M.O.D UAE Secures First Place On Day 1 Of Khaled Bin Mohamed Bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship In Fujairah

The Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship – Round 4 (Gi) began with M.O.D UAE taking the lead. Al Ain Jiu-Jitsu Club and Baniyas Jiu-Jitsu Club followed in second and third places, respectively. The competition on Friday was fierce, featuring athletes from the Men’s and Women’s U18, Adults, and Masters divisions.

Dr. Ahmed Hamdan Al Zeyoudi, Director of the Fujairah Crown Prince’s Office, praised the event's organisation and quality. He remarked, "The athletes showed impressive technical skill, proving this championship is a key platform for developing athletes and preparing them for high-level competition."

M.O.D UAE Leads Day 1 of Jiu-Jitsu Championship

Saturday will focus on younger talents as boys and girls in the Kids categories, along with Girls U12, U14, U16, and Boys U12 divisions compete. The championship concludes on Sunday, 13th October. The final round is scheduled for December in Abu Dhabi.

High-profile attendees included Major General Mohammed bin Ghanem Al Kaabi of Fujairah Police and Mohammed Ahmed Al Yamahi from the Federal National Council. Other notable figures were Mohamed Salem Al Dhaheri of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation and Yousef Abdullah Al Batran from the same federation.

Mohamed Salem Al Dhaheri commented on the championship's significance: "The Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship reflects the strong support jiu-jitsu receives from our leadership. It also highlights our commitment to fostering a vibrant sports culture." He emphasised its role in developing athletes’ skills for future leadership in the sport.

Talisson Suarez, Coach of M.O.D Jiu-Jitsu Academy, expressed satisfaction with his team's performance: "The Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship has set a high bar for competition, bringing together some of the top athletes in the region. Our athletes performed strongly in the first three rounds."

Athletes Achieving Success

Andre Luiz de Almeida from Al Ain Jiu-Jitsu Club secured gold in the Men’s Adults/Master -85kg category. Meanwhile, Ghalya Kamis Mohamed Bakhet Almatrooshi of FMAC triumphed in the Youth Women’s Gi / White / 82kg division.

The opening day saw numerous submissions and high-level grappling matches that set an exciting tone for the weekend's events. This competitive spirit underscores the importance of such platforms for nurturing talent.

The championship continues to be a vital event for promoting jiu-jitsu within the region. It not only showcases athletic prowess but also strengthens community ties through sport.
