Mleiha National Park To Host Spectacular Geminids Meteor Shower Experience In December 2025

The Mleiha National Park is set to host a remarkable celestial event, the Geminids Meteor Shower Experience, on Saturday, December 13, 2025. Taking place at the Mleiha Panoramic Lounge, this event promises an extraordinary night-sky spectacle. With minimal moonlight expected, the desert's low light pollution and clear horizons will provide perfect conditions for viewing up to 100 meteors per hour at its peak.

Visitors will have access to advanced computerized telescopes that offer exceptional clarity and detail of celestial objects. Omar Al Ali, Manager of Mleiha & Strategic Projects, stated, "Geminids is the ultimate night for skywatchers with high meteor counts, slow and bright streaks. This year’s minimal moonlight makes it a standout." The desert's unique setting allows even unaided eyes to trace constellations and meteor trails.

The event is designed as a serene evening under the stars. The guided program runs from 6 pm to 1 am for standard ticket holders. An overnight option extends the experience through dawn with a complimentary breakfast on Sunday, December 14. The meteor shower continues until one hour before sunrise, offering guests an extended opportunity to enjoy the celestial display.

Guests will follow a special itinerary balancing guided exploration and open viewing. Activities begin at 6 pm with Saturn observation from 6:15 to 7 pm. From 7 to 8 pm, a presentation on the Geminids sets the stage for the night. Jupiter becomes visible between 9 and 9:30 pm, followed by focused meteor-watching from 9:30 pm onwards.

Mleiha offers more than just the Geminids event; regular stargazing nights are part of its programming. Special sessions coincide with eclipses, meteor showers, and planetary conjunctions. These events aim to extend celestial experiences to communities across the region through their Mobile Stargazing program.

This mobile initiative brings telescopes, guides, and educational activities to off-site venues for private groups, schools, and partners. It allows more people to engage with astronomy in various locations beyond Mleiha National Park.

The guided session concludes at 1 am; however, overnight guests can continue observing throughout the night. This extended opportunity ensures that all visitors can fully immerse themselves in the wonders of the night sky.

The combination of expert guidance and high-resolution telescopes ensures a memorable experience for all attendees. The unique desert setting enhances visibility and provides an ideal backdrop for this celestial event.
