Ministry Of Energy And Infrastructure To Showcase UAE's Energy Strategies At World Utilities Congress 2025

The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MoEI) will attend the 4th World Utilities Congress (WUC) in Abu Dhabi from 27th to 29th May. The ministry aims to showcase national projects and smart technologies that improve energy and water demand management, decarbonise these sectors, and ensure resource sustainability. The event will also highlight the UAE Energy Strategy 2050, which seeks to boost clean energy capacity to 30% of the total energy mix by 2030.

Eng. Ahmed Al Kaabi, Assistant Undersecretary for the Electricity, Water, and Future Energy Sector at MoEI, stated, "Our participation in the World Utilities Congress 2025 is in line with our commitment to the national net-zero target and building effective international partnerships that actively contribute to achieving the historic UAE Consensus. WUC has become a key stage for exchanging knowledge and experiences and keeping pace with the latest global utilities’ innovations."

The National Hydrogen Strategy 2050 will be a focal point at the congress. This strategy aims to position the UAE as a leader in hydrogen production by 2031. Additionally, MoEI will discuss its National Water and Energy Demand Side Management Programme 2050. This initiative targets a reduction of 40% in energy use and 51% in water use by mid-century compared to current trends.

Throughout its involvement at WUC, MoEI will emphasise digital transformation within energy and water facilities. The ministry plans to present interactive digital models that enhance planning efficiency and sustainable utility management. These models aim to boost readiness for future demands while ensuring service continuity and resilience against challenges.

Al Kaabi further remarked on MoEI's dedication: "We at MoEI strongly believe that sustainable development requires adopting proactive policies and smart investments that propel the transition to clean energy, expanding the digital infrastructure, and encouraging innovation in energy and water efficiency practices. We work closely with our partners from the government and private sectors to achieve these targets and enhance the UAE’s status as a global sustainability and innovation leader in the utilities sector."

The congress will also provide insights into how MoEI plans to support digital advancements in managing essential utilities. By showcasing cutting-edge digital solutions, MoEI aims to improve planning efficiency for sustainable management of resources. This approach ensures that services remain resilient while adapting effectively to future challenges.

In addition, MoEI will outline its strategies for increasing renewable capacity to 14 GW by 2030 under its comprehensive energy strategy. This aligns with broader goals of enhancing clean energy contributions within the national energy framework.

The World Utilities Congress serves as an important platform for exchanging knowledge about global utility innovations. It allows participants like MoEI to align their efforts with international best practices while advancing their own strategic objectives.
