In the United Arab Emirates, Microsoft, along with its partners and customers utilizing cloud technologies, is poised to contribute significantly to the nation's economic landscape. An International Data Corporation (IDC) study, unveiled at GITEX Global 2024, predicts a generation of $74.4 billion in new revenues for the UAE economy by leveraging Microsoft's cloud services over the next four years. This substantial financial injection underscores the pivotal role of cloud technology in driving innovation, fostering the digital economy, and creating job opportunities within the region.
The "Microsoft Cloud Dividend Snapshot" study, sponsored by Microsoft, sheds light on the company's dedication to nurturing local businesses and asserts its efforts to position the UAE as a leading global technology hub. With plans to invest approximately $5.1 billion in the UAE's datacenter regions, Microsoft and its partners aim to bolster the growth of enterprises. This investment is particularly aimed at those enterprises keen on adopting cloud and AI technologies to maintain competitiveness in the fast-evolving digital landscape.

Naim Yazbeck, General Manager of Microsoft UAE, emphasized the importance of cloud technology as a foundation for innovation in the region. "As organizations across the UAE and the region seek to leverage the latest advancements in Artificial Intelligence, the cloud remains the foundation upon which these innovations are built. At Microsoft, we are committed to providing highly secure, trusted, enterprise-grade cloud services that are critical for organizations accelerating their AI transformation journey. Our investment in local datacenters, our partner ecosystem, and the broader digital economy reflects our ongoing dedication to empowering government institutions and businesses to innovate, drive economic growth, and create sustainable jobs for the future," he stated.
The economic advantages of Microsoft's cloud services extend to its partners, with revenue growth projected at $6.29 for every dollar generated through its UAE cloud operations in 2025, a figure expected to rise to $7.99 by 2028. Beyond financial growth, Microsoft's cloud is set to be a job creation engine, adding an estimated 152,530 new jobs to the UAE economy within the next four years. These positions will manifest both directly within Microsoft and indirectly through its extensive partner ecosystem and cloud-using clientele. The study also highlights the addition of over 41,800 new skilled IT roles, further advancing the UAE's evolution from a technology consumer to a dynamic hub of innovation and technology export.
