Martyrs' Sacrifices Are Instrumental In Shaping The UAE's Formation And Growth, States Fujairah Ruler
H.H. Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah, paid tribute to the nation's martyrs, acknowledging their crucial role in the UAE's development. Commemoration Day, observed every 30th November, serves as a reminder of their sacrifices. Sheikh Hamad remarked, "On this significant day, we pay tribute to our first martyrs, who on 30th November 1971, wrote the opening chapter of our nation’s legacy of heroism. Their sacrifice was a conscious choice, earning them the honour of being the nation’s first martyrs."
Sheikh Hamad highlighted that without these sacrifices, the UAE's progress would not have been possible. He stressed the importance of Commemoration Day as a yearly reminder of the values of sacrifice and patriotism that underpin the UAE's security and resilience.

The Ruler of Fujairah described the martyrs as pioneers in the UAE's victories and achievements. Reflecting on their unmatched bravery, he stated, "No words can truly honour those who fearlessly faced death to safeguard their homeland and its people." This courage is seen as foundational to the nation's success.
Sheikh Hamad also mentioned the wisdom of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the Founding Father. Sheikh Zayed believed that martyrs are the enduring soul and conscience of the nation. This sentiment underscores their lasting impact on national identity.
President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan's views were also cited by Sheikh Hamad. He recognised martyrdom as a path to both internal and external peace. "The martyrs deserve the highest praise and appreciation for defending truth and justice," he added.
His Highness concluded by stressing the need to educate younger generations about martyrdom's significance. He stated, "This ensures the continuity of the nation’s journey of sacrifice and giving. The UAE’s flourishing future is nurtured by the blood of those who did not fear death in defence of life." This education is vital for maintaining national values.
