Mansour Bin Zayed Chairs Abu Dhabi Water And Electricity Sector Meeting
His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan chaired a meeting of the Higher Committee for the Water and Electricity Sector in Abu Dhabi at Qasr Al Watan, reviewing current sector performance and setting strategic directions for future development and sustainability.
The committee evaluated how Abu Dhabi’s water and electricity sector is responding to rising demand across the emirate’s economy, while also considering steps to strengthen long-term resilience, support environmental goals, and maintain the emirate’s role in regional and global energy markets.
Members discussed key pillars guiding future plans for the water and electricity sector in Abu Dhabi, including the diversification of energy and water sources, greater dependence on low-carbon and renewable power, and the gradual shift towards cleaner technologies across production and distribution activities.
Another focus was improving consumption efficiency in the water and electricity sector in Abu Dhabi by using digital tools, advanced technology and artificial intelligence, with the aim of reducing waste, cutting network losses and supporting more responsible use of resources by consumers and businesses.
The meeting also considered how activities in the water and electricity sector in Abu Dhabi could be aligned more closely with wider government programmes targeting economic, environmental and social sustainability, reflecting the emirate’s broader growth and its ambitions in energy and water treatment industries.
His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan attended the meeting in his roles as Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Presidential Court, and Chairman of the Higher Committee for the Water and Electricity Sector in Abu Dhabi, alongside senior federal and local officials.
Participants underlined that coordinated planning in the water and electricity sector in Abu Dhabi is central to supporting investment, enabling infrastructure projects and reinforcing the emirate’s position as a key centre for power generation, transmission and advanced water treatment technologies within the region.
