H.H. Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai’s Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management, recently attended a significant graduation ceremony at Emirates Towers. This event celebrated the first group of Community Volunteer Leaders. Organised by the Dubai Resilience Centre with Furjan Dubai, this initiative aims to train volunteers to support community preparedness and emergency response in Dubai.
The programme is part of a larger strategy to enhance community resilience and sustainable volunteerism in the emirate. It focuses on preparing national leaders for active roles in field operations, contributing significantly to community safety and security. The initiative aligns with the leadership's vision of integrating volunteering into daily life.
During the ceremony, H.H. Sheikh Mansoor highlighted that the initiative's success shows Emirati society's readiness to contribute. He praised the new volunteer leaders as examples of social responsibility and partners in maintaining community security and stability. This reflects Dubai’s commitment to effective crisis management.
The first cohort included 25 participants who underwent rigorous training. They learned essential skills such as field leadership, first aid, crowd management, and emergency response. This training equips them with the confidence and expertise needed to handle various emergency situations professionally.
Lieutenant General Talal Humaid Belhoul, Vice Chairman of Dubai’s Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management, also attended the event alongside Ahmed Ateeq Bourguiba, CEO of the Dubai Resilience Centre. Their presence underscored the importance of this initiative in enhancing Dubai's crisis response capabilities.
Organisers noted that graduating this first cohort is a crucial step in developing Dubai’s volunteer ecosystem. It empowers volunteers to lead field teams effectively, boosting the emirate’s readiness for rapid crisis response. This milestone enhances overall preparedness for potential disasters.
The programme not only prepares individuals for emergencies but also fosters a culture of proactive engagement within the community. By equipping volunteers with necessary skills, it ensures they can contribute meaningfully during crises, reinforcing Dubai's role as a leader in crisis management.
