Mango Festival 2025 Launches This Friday At Expo Khorfakkan To Celebrate Local Agriculture

The fourth Mango Festival will begin on Friday at Expo Khorfakkan, continuing until 29th June. Organised by the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) with support from the Municipal Council of Khorfakkan and Khorfakkan City Municipality, the event involves local farmers, agricultural firms, and productive families from across the UAE.

This year’s theme, "Mango: Our Fruit, Our Wealth," aims to position the Eastern Region as a prime agri-tourism spot. The festival supports the local economy by empowering farmers and productive families while enhancing domestic agricultural product quality and sustainability. It also aligns with preserving UAE's cultural heritage and advancing the National Food Security Strategy 2051.

Mango Festival 2025 Begins at Expo Khorfakkan

Over 150 premium mango varieties will be displayed, showcasing the UAE's rich agricultural diversity. The festival includes heritage-themed activities and cultural events alongside educational programmes designed to improve local production quality. These initiatives encourage knowledge sharing between farmers and agricultural experts.

The Mango Festival 2025 significantly enhances the Eastern Region's heritage and agricultural events portfolio. It provides a platform for showcasing local produce quality and diversity while fostering partnerships among farmers, traders, and agribusinesses. This supports sustainable development goals and agriculture as a vital economic sector in the emirate.

This year features several competitions with valuable prizes. A highlight is the "Mango Mazayna" Competition on day one, where entries must be locally sourced from participants' farms or gardens. Each entry should be a single defect-free variety weighing at least 4 kilograms. Winning entries undergo on-site inspection by judges to ensure fairness.

On day two, families can participate in the "Most Beautiful Mango Basket" competition, focusing on hand-crafted presentation aesthetics. Throughout the festival, there is also a "Best Farmer’s Booth" contest based on audience votes requiring displays of at least five different mango varieties.

Engaging Younger Generations

On the final festival day, children aged 7 to 12 residing in the UAE can join the "Best Agriculture-themed Video" competition. This initiative encourages early engagement with farming practices among young participants.

The festival plays a crucial role in raising awareness among farmers about advanced sustainable agricultural practices. Expert-led workshops offer training sessions focused on best practices that ensure high-quality production with tangible economic returns for local farmers. These efforts align with Sharjah’s strategy to preserve its agricultural heritage while encouraging investment in mango cultivation.
