Make It In The Emirates Campaign Launched To Promote UAE-Made Products With Competitive Incentives

Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, recently observed the launch of a national campaign aimed at promoting products made in the UAE. This initiative is part of the 'Make it in the Emirates' platform, which seeks to enhance the visibility of locally manufactured goods both in physical stores and online.

The Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT) spearheads this campaign, collaborating with nine major retail and e-commerce platforms in the UAE. These partners include ADNOC Distribution, Noon, Tradeling, Grandiose, Talabat, Carrefour, Lulu, Union Coop, and Spinneys. They will provide prominent shelf space and digital storefronts for local products throughout May.

Launch of Make It in the Emirates Campaign

Manufacturers participating in this initiative will benefit from various incentives. These include waivers on registration fees, free digital advertising, support with onboarding processes and customer service, as well as logistics and storage assistance for up to three months. Additionally, there will be help with product registration and promotional video production for social media platforms.

The campaign also offers new manufacturers additional support such as creating free online storefronts and exemption from storage fees. This initiative aligns with MoIAT's efforts to boost collaboration between manufacturers and suppliers across the UAE. It aims to enhance the competitiveness of local companies by providing a favourable investment climate.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between MoIAT and various campaign partners. Key figures involved include Omar Al Suwaidi from MoIAT; Engineer Bader Al Lamki from ADNOC Distribution; Mansoor Al Ghurair from Noon; Mohamed Al Hashemi from Union Coop; Günther Helm from Majid Al Futtaim – Retail; Dr. Mussaab Aboud from Grandiose; Saifee Rupawala from Lulu Retail; Pedram Assadi from Talabat; Sunil Kumar from Spinneys; and Alastair Croker from Tradeling.

Al Suwaidi stated that this campaign supports public-private sector collaboration as a foundation of the UAE's business environment. He added that it helps raise consumer awareness about the quality of UAE-made products while encouraging people to buy local.

Commitment to Local Products

Al Lamki expressed pride in joining this national campaign led by MoIAT. He mentioned that ADNOC Distribution is offering dedicated display spaces for UAE-made products at their outlets as part of this strategic partnership.

Al Hashemi highlighted that their partnership with MoIAT aims to enhance the competitiveness of UAE-made products while investing in economic resilience and national self-sufficiency through local goods.

Retailers Supporting Local Economy

Günther Helm commented on Majid Al Futtaim – Retail's commitment to supporting local businesses through this MoU. He emphasised that boosting locally made products aligns with building a more self-reliant future for the UAE.

Noon's CEO Faraz Khalid praised the Make it in the Emirates initiative as an ambitious effort they believe in. He noted that building locally at scale reflects their vision for supporting bold ideas within a thriving local economy.

Promoting Locally Produced Goods

Ghassan Aboud Group's Chairman Ghassan Aboud expressed pride in partnering with MoIAT under this initiative. He affirmed Grandiose's role in promoting high-quality locally produced goods within the UAE's ecosystem.

Lulu Retail's Saifee Rupawala reiterated their commitment to supporting local manufacturing through this partnership by expanding locally made product offerings across their stores.

Empowering Local Entrepreneurs

Pedram Assadi from Talabat highlighted their dedication to supporting domestic production as a means to drive innovation and strengthen communities served by their platform. They aim to grow local products on their platform actively contributing towards a sustainable future for the UAE.

Sunil Kumar shared Spinneys' excitement about working alongside Make it in Emirates while promoting homegrown businesses through supporting locally manufactured products within their stores.

Highlighting Excellence in Manufacturing

Croker emphasised Tradeling's commitment to showcasing excellence within UAE manufacturing through collaboration with MoIAT using their B2B digital ecosystem platform effectively raising awareness about Made-in-the-Emirates quality offerings available today!

This campaign coincides with preparations for Make it in Emirates 2025 scheduled at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre between 19-22 May where leading manufacturers investors strategic partners gather showcasing premier industrial platform initiatives across public-private sectors alike!
