Latifa Bint Mohammed Engages With WEF President On Future Pathways And Cybersecurity Initiatives
H.H. Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, recently engaged with Børge Brende, President and CEO of the World Economic Forum (WEF). This meeting took place during the opening of the Annual Meetings of the Global Future Councils and Cybersecurity 2025 in Dubai. The event, organised by the UAE Government alongside WEF, runs until 16th October.
The gathering was attended by several notable figures including H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum; Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Co-Chair of the Global Future Councils; Ohood Al Roumi, Minister of State for Government Development and the Future; and Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications.
Sheikha Latifa highlighted that under visionary leadership, the UAE remains a proactive global partner in creating collaborative frameworks that shape impactful future pathways. These efforts aim to improve quality of life globally by advancing key sectors affecting wellbeing. She stated that aligning with UAE’s strategic goals, the Global Future Councils focus on optimising technology investments, driving digital transformation, and enhancing cybersecurity to lay a foundation for a sustainable future.
She further emphasised understanding global challenges as opportunities is crucial for positive impact. This involves crafting innovative solutions rooted in creativity and launching initiatives that enhance community wellbeing. "A deep understanding of the importance of transforming current and future global challenges into opportunities is essential to driving positive impact," she said.
Børge Brende praised the UAE's role in hosting these councils, noting its conducive environment for anticipating future sectoral developments and addressing global issues. He appreciated the strong partnership between WEF and UAE which has yielded significant positive outcomes worldwide. The Global Future Councils are central to this partnership, having convened over 900 councils with more than 12,000 experts over 16 years to tackle pressing human issues.
This year’s meetings have attracted over 700 experts from 93 countries. They provide a platform for dialogue on future sectoral developments and international challenges. The 37 councils cover six main pillars, with this year marking the first joint meeting of the Cybersecurity Council with the Global Future Councils to boost integration.
The collaboration between UAE and WEF through these councils underscores their commitment to addressing critical global challenges by fostering dialogue among experts worldwide. This partnership continues to generate far-reaching benefits across various sectors globally.
