Khaled Bin Mohamed Bin Zayed Highlights Importance Of Jiu-Jitsu Development At Championship Round Four
H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, attended the fourth round of the Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship. This event, organised by the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, is taking place at Zayed Sports Complex in Fujairah and will continue until 13th October 2024.
The championship features athletes from junior to master categories in Gi competitions. The current round will conclude tomorrow. H.H. Sheikh Khaled stressed the importance of such events in nurturing future champions and attracting jiu-jitsu talent, while enhancing the UAE's status as a global jiu-jitsu hub.
H.H. Sheikh Khaled highlighted the leadership's dedication to advancing jiu-jitsu and supporting national talent. This includes providing resources, modern sports facilities, and training expertise, alongside organising local and international championships.
Abdulmunem Alsayed Mohammed Al Hashmi, Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts Federation, expressed gratitude to H.H. Sheikh Khaled for his unwavering support for jiu-jitsu. He noted that the UAE’s achievements in this sport stem from the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Al Hashmi emphasised that H.H.’s visit underscores the leadership’s commitment to sports and jiu-jitsu as a lifestyle. He highlighted its role in promoting health and fitness across the UAE and developing exceptional champions.
He added: "His Highness’s presence and continued support are powerful motivators for all of us to strive for excellence in empowering youth and providing them with the best competitive environment. We are fully committed to doing whatever it takes to ensure that UAE athletes reach the pinnacle on the global stage and translate the leadership’s support into tangible achievements."
Championship Rounds
The Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship comprises five rounds. The current round follows previous ones held in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Sharjah. These earlier rounds drew large crowds and featured intense competitions across various categories.
The event not only showcases athletic talent but also strengthens community engagement with sports. It reflects a broader strategy to position the UAE as a leader in international sporting events.
