Karachi Gateway And Louis Dreyfus Company Partner To Develop Clean Bulk Handling Facility At Karachi Port
AD Ports Group and Louis Dreyfus Company Pakistan (Private) Limited have entered into a long-term agreement to enhance Karachi Port's agricultural logistics. Karachi Gateway Terminal Multipurpose Limited (KGTML), part of Noatum Ports under AD Ports Group, will develop a clean bulk handling facility for agricultural goods. This collaboration aims to improve the efficiency of dry agricultural bulk cargo handling and storage.
The agreement involves KGTML investing in advanced infrastructure, including a food-grade silo system and conveyor technology. This investment aligns with international standards to ensure efficient operations. LDC has committed to providing agricultural commodities, leveraging the new infrastructure to expand its presence in Pakistan. The project is part of AD Ports Group's broader strategy, which includes a USD 75 million investment in KGTML's first phase.

Mohammed Al Tamimi, CEO of Noatum Ports, highlighted the partnership's significance: "This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to strengthening Pakistan’s agricultural supply chain and port logistics ecosystem. Under the agreement, KGTML will design, construct, and operate a food-grade silo system to support the efficient handling and storage of dry agricultural bulk cargo, in line with international best practices."
The new facility at Karachi Port is expected to boost efficiency and reduce handling times. It will also strengthen Pakistan's agricultural logistics network by adhering to global food safety standards. By enhancing regional trade connectivity, the project aims to provide broader access to food supplies. This development marks an important step in bolstering bilateral trade between the UAE and Pakistan.
Rubens Marques from LDC expressed enthusiasm about the project: "We are pleased to partner with KGTML, and increase our cooperation with AD Ports Group, on this transformative project to upgrade and modernize Karachi’s port infrastructure, supporting the growth of Pakistan’s agriculture sector." He noted that LDC has been active in Pakistan for over 15 years and sees this as a commitment to the country's role in global trade.
Expanding Opportunities for Growth
This initiative is set to transform Karachi Port into a crucial hub for international commerce. By upgrading logistics infrastructure, it creates new growth opportunities while reinforcing Karachi Port's strategic importance. The partnership between AD Ports Group and LDC aims to explore further collaborations across new markets by leveraging their combined expertise.
In addition to this project, AD Ports Group manages the Karachi Gateway Terminal Limited (KGTL) container terminal at Karachi Port. Pakistan serves as a strategic maritime gateway for AD Ports Group's 'Middle Corridor' initiative connecting China and Europe via Central Asia.
The collaboration between these entities underscores their shared vision for enhancing Pakistan's port logistics ecosystem. By investing in cutting-edge infrastructure solutions, they aim to deliver high-impact results that benefit both local and regional stakeholders.
