Kalimat Foundation's New Campaign Offers Hope To Gaza's Children Through Art
In a significant move blending art, culture, and philanthropy, the Kalimat Foundation (KF) has unveiled its latest initiative, 'Stitching Hope for Gaza'. This campaign introduces a line of merchandise inspired by the traditional Palestinian Keffiyeh and Tatreez, dedicating all proceeds to aid children in Gaza via the Emirates Red Crescent's 'Tarahum — For Gaza' relief effort. This initiative comes as a response to the ongoing conflict affecting the Palestinian people. The unveiling occurred at the Sharjah Ramadan Majlis 2024, hosted by the Sharjah Research Technology and Innovation Park (SRTIP), where KF presented the merchandise that embodies Palestinian cultural identity, folklore, and heritage.
The collection is accessible through the foundation's official website and various UAE retail outlets. Additionally, KF plans to organize social events throughout the year to highlight Palestinian culture. Bodour Al Qasimi, Founder of Kalimat Foundation, expressed her motivation for launching this initiative, emphasizing the desire to support vulnerable children affected by conflicts like the war in Gaza. She highlighted the Emirati community's deep sympathy and readiness to assist those in need.
Amna Al Mazmi, Director of Kalimat Foundation, remarked on the initiative's goal to foster sustainable positive change and enhance unity and understanding between nations. She pointed out that 'Stitching Hope for Gaza' serves as a practical example of using culture and art to back humanitarian causes, aligning with Sharjah's cultural values that see culture as a means to promote communication, awareness, and positive change across borders.
The merchandise collection includes embroidered T-shirts, tote bags, fabric and leather pouches, scarves featuring Palestinian Keffiyeh and Tatreez designs, and stationery items like notebooks and enamel pins. These products not only aim to represent the resilience and identity of the Palestinian people but also strive to connect deeply with their land and history while advocating for peace and justice.
This initiative by the Kalimat Foundation stands as a testament to the power of cultural expression in supporting humanitarian efforts. Through 'Stitching Hope for Gaza', KF aims not only to provide financial support but also to raise awareness about the challenges faced by Palestinians, thereby fostering a sense of solidarity and understanding across communities.
