Islamic Affairs Authority And AI Office Launch Training For Over 5,000 Employees In Artificial Intelligence Applications
The General Authority for Islamic Affairs, Endowments, and Zakat has initiated a programme to train over 5,000 employees in artificial intelligence (AI). This effort is in collaboration with the Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications Office. The initiative aligns with the UAE Artificial Intelligence Strategy 2031, aiming to enhance employees' technical skills and understanding of AI's practical applications.
Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, highlighted the UAE Government's commitment to integrating AI across sectors. He stated that this collaboration showcases the UAE’s proactive approach to innovation and development. "The rapid pace of technological advancement calls for high levels of readiness and proactive investment in AI-driven solutions to ensure optimal outcomes," he noted.

The training programme is developed alongside global tech giants like Cisco, Oracle, Google, Microsoft, AI71, e&, Meta, SAS, and SAP. These partnerships aim to boost AI literacy among employees. The programme covers various topics such as AI introduction, UAE’s strategic vision in AI, and its application in research and decision-making. A significant focus is on using AI in Islamic affairs and community services.
Dr. Omar Habtour Al Darei, Chairman of the General Authority for Islamic Affairs, Endowments, and Zakat, explained that the initiative aims to create a sustainable learning framework. It seeks to provide employees with comprehensive knowledge of AI applications aligned with national priorities. The programme also focuses on equipping religious leaders with tools to enhance religious discourse through AI.
The initiative's first phase involves building strategic partnerships with major technology providers. This is followed by an advanced stage aimed at deepening knowledge and refining skills. The goal is to ensure continuous alignment with global developments in AI and digital transformation.
Al Darei acknowledged the support from the UAE Council for Fatwa and Mohammed bin Zayed University for Humanities in this initiative. Their contributions are vital in supporting the programme’s objectives. The training also aims to improve religious messaging quality and efficiency while establishing a data-driven foundation for future training based on employee knowledge levels.
This initiative reflects the UAE’s leadership in adopting new technologies within governance frameworks. By enhancing employee capabilities through strategic collaborations with tech firms, it ensures that government entities remain agile and prepared for future challenges.
