Industry Pioneers Panel Discusses Opportunities For Emirati Youth In UAE's Industrial Sector

The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) recently hosted a panel titled "Industry Pioneers – Make it in the Emirates." This event, organised by the Sharjah Youth Council (SYC) alongside the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT)’s Youth Council, aimed to highlight future industrial opportunities for Emirati youth. The session also sought to boost youth participation in the national "Make it in the Emirates" initiative, which is crucial for diversifying and sustaining the UAE's economy.

Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of SCCI, emphasised that public-private partnerships are vital for supporting young industrial pioneers. He stated, "These efforts aim to open new horizons and pathways for Emirati youth to engage in the industrial sector and to equip them with the knowledge, skills, and experience needed to transform their creative ideas into viable industrial ventures that contribute to strengthening the competitiveness of the national economy."

Panel Discusses Youth Opportunities in Industry

The session featured discussions on empowering youth within the "Make it in the Emirates" initiative. Speakers outlined available industrial opportunities while addressing existing challenges and strategies to overcome them. They highlighted innovation and advanced technologies as key drivers of industrial development, with young talent playing a significant role in enhancing the UAE’s industrial competitiveness.

Among those present were Hussain Mohammed Al Mahmoudi, CEO of Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Park (SRTI Park), Mohamed Ali Hilal from SCCI Board and CEO of Mohamed Hilal Group, and Mohammed Juma'a Al Musharrakh, CEO of Sharjah FDI Office (Invest in Sharjah). Abdul Aziz Al Shamsi from SCCI and Dr. Maryam Sultan Al Suwaidi from Sharjah Youth Council also attended.

The discussion underscored government incentives, policy support, and Sharjah’s investor-friendly environment as crucial elements aiding young entrepreneurs. These factors are instrumental in fostering youth-led industrial ventures. The session also showcased personal experiences from industry professionals who turned challenges into successful opportunities.

Participants stressed that Emirati youth should leverage available prospects within the industry. They should take advantage of government support initiatives and engage with private sector efforts. Programmes offered by the Sharjah Chamber are particularly beneficial for enhancing entrepreneurial capabilities and promoting youth-driven industrial leadership.
