15,000+ Indian Businesses Amplify Dubai Chamber's Global Appeal In 2023

A recent analysis conducted by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce has highlighted a significant influx of Indian investors into Dubai, showcasing the emirate's ongoing appeal to international businesses. In 2023, a striking number of 15,481 new Indian-owned companies joined the chamber, marking a 38 percent increase from the previous year. This development positions Indian investors as the leading nationality among new non-UAE businesses affiliating with the chamber.

Following India, Pakistan emerged as the second-largest contributor to new company memberships in 2023, with the chamber welcoming 8,036 Pakistani businesses. This represents a substantial growth rate of 71.2 percent compared to 2022. Egypt secured the third spot with 4,837 new members, indicating a year-over-year growth of 63.2 percent.

Indian Firms Boost Dubai Chamber in '23

Mohammad Ali Rashed Lootah, President and CEO of Dubai Chambers, expressed that Dubai's ability to draw foreign direct investment from various nations and sectors underscores the diversity and attractiveness of its business environment. He emphasized the chamber's commitment to offering specialized value-added services that bolster business activity and enhance company competitiveness within Dubai.

Lootah also noted the significant increase in the diversity of nationalities among member company owners as a reflection of Dubai's enhanced position in the global business arena, especially following the announcement of the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33).

The analysis further revealed that Syrian-owned companies also saw notable growth, with 2,755 new companies joining in 2023, marking a 28.8 percent increase from the previous year. The United Kingdom and Bangladesh followed closely, demonstrating significant year-over-year growth rates of 50.8 percent and 42.8 percent respectively.

China, Jordan, Iraq, and Yemen also featured prominently on the list of top investor nationalities for new company registrations in 2023, showcasing diverse international interest in Dubai's business landscape.

Increases Across Diverse Sectors

The majority of new companies registered with Dubai Chamber of Commerce in 2023 were from the wholesale and retail trade and repair of motor vehicles sector, accounting for 44.2 percent of new memberships. The real estate, renting, and business activities sector followed with 32 percent of total new registrations. Additionally, the construction sector and the transport, storage, and communications sector were also significant contributors to the chamber's membership growth.

This analysis underscores Dubai's strategic importance as a global business hub and its ability to attract investors from across a wide range of industries and nationalities. With its diverse economic landscape and supportive business environment, Dubai continues to be a key destination for international investment.
