Human Rights Council Adopts UAE-Led Resolution To Support Yemen's Human Rights Efforts
The Human Rights Council (HRC) recently concluded its 75th session, adopting a resolution drafted by the UAE on behalf of the Arab Group. This resolution focuses on "technical assistance and capacity-building for Yemen in the field of human rights." Ambassador Jamal Al Musharakh, representing the UAE at the United Nations in Geneva, presented this resolution.
Ambassador Al Musharakh highlighted that the resolution aligns with one of the HRC's primary goals. This goal is to work collaboratively with relevant countries to strengthen national institutions and promote human rights through dialogue and cooperation. The resolution aims to provide technical assistance and capacity building in human rights.

The resolution requests support from the High Commissioner's office to help Yemen meet its human rights commitments. It also seeks to address the development and humanitarian needs of the Yemeni people. The focus is on building capacities for Yemen's Independent National Committee to investigate human rights violations and ensure accountability.
This initiative also supports international efforts for a comprehensive ceasefire in Yemen. It aims to end conflict and promote political dialogue towards peace. Additionally, it calls for removing barriers that hinder relief and humanitarian aid delivery.
The resolution urges all UN organisations, including the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, to support Yemen's transition process. It calls for providing necessary resources to tackle violence repercussions and economic challenges in coordination with international donors based on Yemen's priorities.
Ambassador Al Musharakh reiterated the UAE's commitment to supporting regional and international efforts for a political solution in Yemen. He emphasised achieving security, development, and stability aspirations for the Yemeni people.
The UAE remains dedicated to standing by Yemenis, supporting their legitimate aspirations for development and prosperity. This commitment is part of broader efforts to support regional interests.
