Transforming Healthcare: India Vice-President Inaugurates Aster’s 50th Mobile Medical Clinic Run By Volunteers

In a significant move toward enhancing healthcare accessibility in underserved regions of India, Aster Volunteers has introduced two innovative Mobile Medical Clinics. These clinics, empowered with Internet of Things (IoT) technology and telemedicine services, aim to deliver free medical care to the communities in Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir, and Kalaburagi in Karnataka. This initiative elevates the total count of Mobile Clinics operated by Aster Volunteers to 50.

The inauguration of these mobile units was presided over by Jagdeep Dhankhar, Vice-President of India, alongside Alisha Moopen, Managing Director and Group CEO of Aster DM Healthcare, and Anoop Moopen, Director of Aster DM Healthcare Ltd.

On the occasion, Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar applauded the initiative, highlighting its significance in providing essential medical services to underserved populations. He commended the integration of technology with mobility and praised Aster Volunteers for their compassion and dedication toward enhancing healthcare.

The newly launched mobile units are custom-built on an Ashok Leyland Mitr 7 meter long Chassis. They feature a range of essential facilities including a patient waiting area, registration and vital data collection desks, a mini lab with refrigerated storage, safe medicine storage and dispensing area, and a consultation room.

The clinics are equipped for General Practitioner, Specialist, and Super-Specialist tele-consultations, bolstered by IoT technology. Additional amenities include a large TV for health education, an expandable awning for outdoor shade, air conditioning, infection control mechanisms, and Wi-Fi connectivity. These features ensure that the clinics can navigate remote village pathways, making healthcare accessible to the most marginalized communities.

Aster Volunteers Mobile Medical Services (AVMMS) stands as a pioneering CSR initiative, aimed at closing the healthcare gap for needy communities in remote locations. Through free medical camps and disaster aid support, this initiative by Aster Volunteers, supported by Aster DM Foundation, has expanded its network over 12 years. The 50 Mobile Clinics, operational across India, the Middle East, Africa, and South Asian countries like Bangladesh, Sri-Lanka, and Nepal, are set to benefit at least 1 million people annually from the fiscal year 2025-26.

Currently, 31 Mobile Clinics are operational across various Indian states, with plans to expand into Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh. Additionally, four clinics serve the GCC countries of UAE, Oman, and Qatar, while six operate in African nations, enhancing Aster Volunteers' global footprint. With an ambitious plan to add 10 more units by 2025, the organization is committed to making healthcare more accessible and affordable, especially in North India.

Dr. Azad Moopen, Founder & Chairman of Aster DM Healthcare, emphasized the mission to provide accessible healthcare through advanced technologies and sustainable practices. He stated, "Moving forward, we aim to expand our reach deeper in North India to serve marginalized populations more effectively."

The event also saw the participation of Mr TJ Wilson, Executive Director & Group Head – Corporate Governance at Aster DM Healthcare Ltd, and Prabal Pratap Singh Tomar, Vice President of the Indian Lawn Tennis Association & Delhi President of Mixed Martial Arts, who pledged his support for the initiative.
