Hamdan Bin Mohammed Reviews Key Projects At UAE Space Agency Booth During Dubai Airshow 2025
H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, visited the UAE Space Agency's booth at the Dubai Airshow 2025. During his visit, he was briefed on several key projects, including the Sirb Programme and the Emirates Mission to the Asteroid Belt (EMA). He praised the agency's efforts to elevate the UAE's status as a spacefaring nation.
The UAE Space Agency showcased its latest advancements at the 19th edition of the Dubai Airshow. The event featured a large Space Pavilion with participation from local and international entities. Visitors had the chance to explore cutting-edge space technologies and learn about innovative national programmes. The pavilion also highlighted the significant role of local talent in leading these projects.
Sheikh Hamdan emphasised that investing in space is driven by a desire to shape a future defined by creativity and determination. He noted that significant achievements often begin with bold ideas, which take form through dedication and excellence. This approach results in remarkable outcomes as diverse talents unite for a common purpose.
The Sirb satellite system was presented to Sheikh Hamdan during his visit. This project aims to empower the private sector and achieve autonomy in Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) imaging from space. Led by the UAE Space Agency, with EDGE as a strategic partner, it involves a consortium including Technology Innovation Institute (TII) and Space42.
The Arab Satellite 813 project was also discussed during Sheikh Hamdan's visit. The project has reached important milestones like completing Launch Readiness and Operational Readiness Reviews. It represents an opportunity for Arab experts to engage in developing and using space technologies, benefiting from UAE's capabilities in assembling and testing satellites locally.
The UAE Space Agency is committed to promoting innovation and scientific research within the space sector. Efforts are underway to develop national capabilities and expand cooperation with both local and international partners. These initiatives aim to build a sustainable and competitive space industry in the UAE.

During the Dubai Airshow 2025, several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were signed with local and international entities. A space conference took place at the airshow featuring over 60 speakers, including astronauts and representatives from global space agencies. The event included educational initiatives like Planet X challenge, space application competitions, and a graduation ceremony for National Space Academy batches.
