H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, introduced the '71 Challenge for Young Government Leaders' at the UAE Government Annual Meetings 2024 in Abu Dhabi. This initiative aims to empower young government officials by unlocking their potential and fostering a community of future leaders. It prepares them for leadership roles, contributing to the UAE's vision for the future.
The challenge is managed by the UAE Government Leaders Programme and the Government Development and Future Office. It focuses on enhancing leadership skills among young professionals, equipping them to address challenges with innovative strategies and practical solutions. This initiative aims to boost the UAE's readiness for a competitive future while advancing national goals across key sectors.
Sheikh Hamdan highlighted that this initiative aligns with directives from President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The focus is on preparing an exceptional generation of young leaders ready for future challenges. "Young people are the driving force behind our nation's progress," he stated, emphasising their role in innovation and development.
The '71 Challenge' involves 45 young government leaders from federal and local entities. They will work on eight specialised projects under expert guidance. After thorough evaluation, top projects will be selected based on impact, and outstanding leaders will be recognised for their contributions to these winning projects.
The challenge spans six months, focusing on eight strategic pillars: family, community solidarity and national identity; education and advanced technology; digital transformation and Emirati innovation; entrepreneurship; economic productivity with Emirati talent; digital economy and talent attraction; sports excellence; and new media and global influence.
Ohood bint Khalfan Al Roumi, Minister of State for Government Development and the Future, remarked that this challenge embodies the UAE leadership's vision of cultivating a new generation capable of driving future transformations. She stated: "Investing in national teams equipped with the characteristic Emirati spirit of challenge ensures the UAE's future readiness by developing young leaders who exceed expectations."
This initiative enhances leadership skills among young professionals, empowering them with innovative approaches to tackle challenges effectively. By doing so, it bolsters the UAE's competitiveness in achieving its national objectives.
