Gulfood Startups Accelerates Global Food Tech Scaling In Dubai With World Agri-FoodTech Challenge

Gulfood is introducing Gulfood Startups as a key feature of Gulfood 2026 in Dubai, running from 26th to 30th January, creating a dedicated launchpad for food-tech companies that want to expand worldwide and gain buyers, investors and policy access from one central location.

The initiative is being developed as the global food economy is forecast to reach US$11.37 trillion by 2030, while the UAE’s food and beverage market is predicted to hit US$44 billion by 2029, supported by population growth, strong demand and sustained state focus on food security.

Gulfood Startups scales global food tech

At Gulfood Startups, more than 250 international entrepreneurs and specialists will present solutions that target every stage of the food system, including origin, production, processing, logistics and retail, with specific focus areas such as advanced plant-based foods, new protein sources and technology-driven supply chains.

The concepts on show will include precision fermentation, Plant-Based 3.0 products, water-based frying systems, automated distribution platforms and predictive food intelligence that uses AI, all aimed at reshaping how food is manufactured, moved and sold across borders and within regional markets.

The World Agri-FoodTech Startup Challenge sits at the heart of Gulfood Startups, offering a prize pool of US$135,000 over three days of live competition, where startups are assessed on innovation quality, potential to scale, commercial fit, and environmental and economic contributions in both regional and global contexts.

Entrants are being assembled through a strategic collaboration with DMCC and the India Middle East Agri-Alliance (IMEAA), linking founders from different markets to Dubai, where judges will review how each concept addresses sustainability, efficiency and resilience across the food value chain.

She stressed that the World Agri-FoodTech Startup Challenge carries the largest prize fund of its kind and shows Dubai World Trade Centre’s intention to speed up impactful innovation and real commercial growth across the Gulf’s agri-food space, with Dubai acting as a regional and global connection point.

Ahmed bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of DMCC, said, "Through our partnership with Gulfood across Gulfood Startups and the World AgriFoodTech Startup Challenge, DMCC is connecting high-potential startups from across the global food value chain with international markets, investors and commercial partners.

This collaboration builds on DMCC’s existing agrifood ecosystem and trade links, while focusing on scaling validated ideas in areas such as next-generation proteins, precision fermentation, AI-driven food analytics and advanced supply chain tools, aligning with wider UAE priorities on food security, sustainability and economic diversification.
