Google Cloud Spearheads Digital Transformation In Kuwait With New Offices

Google Cloud has inaugurated new offices in Kuwait, licensed by the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority (KDIPA). The event saw the presence of Omar Saud Al-Omar, Minister of Commerce and Industry and Minister of State for Communication Affairs.

In January 2023, Google Cloud entered into a national alliance framework agreement with the Kuwaiti government. This partnership aims to create a roadmap for a comprehensive digital transformation program across various government entities and key state-owned enterprises. The collaboration will leverage Google Cloud's advanced technology, data expertise, and AI capabilities to enhance operations and cybersecurity within these agencies.

Commitment to Digital Transformation

The new Google Cloud offices in Kuwait will act as a hub for collaboration and innovation. Experts from Google Cloud will work closely with customers and partners to drive forward digital initiatives. This expansion underscores Google Cloud's dedication to supporting Kuwait's national digital transformation journey, including modernising government services and advancing economic development.

At the inauguration, Al-Omar highlighted the country's progress under the leadership of His Highness the Amir, His Highness the Crown Prince, and His Highness the Prime Minister. He stated: "Under the visionary leadership of His Highness the Amir, His Highness the Crown Prince, and the guidance of His Highness the Prime Minister, Kuwait has made great strides towards realizing its National Vision 2035." He added that this progress includes driving digital transformation, accelerating a smart economy, and developing crucial infrastructure.

Economic Impact of Digital Technologies

A study commissioned by Google from Access Partnership revealed that cloud-enabled digital technologies could potentially generate up to $3.4 trillion annually in economic impact across major emerging economies by 2030. Specifically for Kuwait, if all sectors fully adopt cloud technologies, they could contribute up to $29.8 billion annually by 2030.

Abdul Rahman Al Thehaiban, Managing Director of Google Cloud in the Middle East, Turkey and Africa, remarked: "Opening Google Cloud offices in Kuwait is yet another step to meet the demand for our services and expertise in Kuwait to support the New Kuwait Vision 2035 vision which aims to transform the country into a digital society and diversify its economy."

Collaborative Efforts for Growth

Google Cloud is working within a strategic alliance framework with KDIPA, CITRA (Communications and Information Technology Regulatory Authority), and CAIT (Central Agency for Information Technology). Since establishing its presence in Kuwait, Google Cloud has been collaborating with CAIT on a national skilling program aimed at upskilling government employees, entrepreneurs, and recent graduates in digital technologies such as advanced data analytics, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and information security solutions.

Shaymaa Alterkait, Country Manager of Google Cloud in Kuwait, emphasised: "At Google Cloud we believe that technology when combined with coordinated efforts of governments, private sector, and civil society can drive economic growth and stability for all communities. Our expansion in Kuwait reinforces our dedication to this vision."

Al-Omar further elaborated on the importance of cloud computing: "The significance of cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and digital technologies in general cannot be overstated. They are fundamental to economic growth and national development." He noted that leveraging these technologies in government services can significantly improve quality of life for citizens and residents while fostering sustainability and innovation.

This partnership has already seen numerous successes which are expected to enrich Kuwait's economy further. It also aims to create promising employment opportunities for Kuwaiti youth.

The opening of these new offices marks another milestone in Google's commitment to supporting Kuwait's ambitious Vision 2035 goals through technological advancements.
