Dubai Hosts Global Contest For World’s Best Prompt Engineer Title

The Global Prompt Engineering Championship commenced today under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Dubai Future Foundation (DFF). Contestants from four continents are vying for the title of Best Prompt Engineer in Generative Artificial Intelligence Applications, with a prize fund totalling AED1 million.

Held at AREA 2071 in Emirates Towers, Dubai, the first day of the championship saw intense competition across three categories: Art, Literature, and Coding. Organised by the Dubai Centre for Artificial Intelligence (DCAI) and Dubai Future Foundation, the event attracted thirty finalists who emerged from thousands of entrants from nearly 100 countries.

Dubai's Global AI Contest

The finalists represent 13 countries: Lebanon, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Morocco, India, Singapore, Dominican Republic, Austria, France, Spain, the United Kingdom, and the UAE. Participants came from diverse backgrounds. Notably, husband and wife Razvan Salam and Roshna Bivi from India competed in the Art category. Iman Wagdy from Egypt, a previous participant in the One Million Arab Coders programme, also took part. The youngest contestant was 13-year-old Zara Hassanein from the United Kingdom.

Competitors were assessed on their speed, creativity, and accuracy of content. The top three in each category will advance to the final stage at the Museum of the Future on Tuesday. The jury for the Art category includes Benedetta Ghione from Art Dubai, Saeed Kharbash from Dubai Culture, and Mazen Abu Najm from Microsoft.

In the Literature category, judges are Mustafa Al-Rawi from International Media Investments Company, Ahlam Bolooki from Emirates Literature Foundation, and Ramesh Chander from Google. For Coding, the judges are Ashraf Khan from IBM, Abdul Rahman Al Mahmoud from the Office of Artificial Intelligence in the UAE Government, and Ahmed Al Sayed from Google.

Statements and Significance

Khalfan Juma Belhoul, CEO of DFF, remarked on the event's significance: "The Global Prompt Engineering Championship has attracted top global talents in the field, strengthening Dubai’s position as a hub for AI. The competition highlights the emirate as a global destination for AI talent and computer scientists to apply their work."

He further added that international participation underscores the importance of encouraging responsible and innovative use of AI in designing future technologies. This initiative aims to create new opportunities and open horizons for further development.
