The Global Food Security Summit (GFSS) will take place in Abu Dhabi on 26th November. It is under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The summit aims to tackle food security issues, focusing on Africa. Organised by ADNEC Group and ADAFSA, it has support from the UAE Ministry of Climate Change and Environment and the UAE Food and Beverage Manufacturers Group.
The summit will gather global decision-makers and experts at the ADNEC Centre in Abu Dhabi. They will discuss innovations in the food sector and outline strategies for integrating best practices in food production. These efforts target countries most affected by climate change-induced food crises.

Saeed Al Bahri Salem Al Ameri, Director-General of ADAFSA, expressed delight over FAO and IOFS's support. He stated, "We are delighted to have the support of FAO and IOFS, our key partners in addressing food security challenges at the global level, especially in the African continent that is the focus of the Summit." This collaboration is seen as a chance to boost international cooperation in agriculture.
Humaid Al Dhaheri, Managing Director and Group CEO of ADNEC Group, highlighted collaboration among leaders to tackle food security challenges. He stressed partnerships with organisations like FAO and IOFS are crucial for shaping future food security and promoting sustainable practices.
Kayan Akram Jaff from FAO noted a concerning rise in global hunger levels. "As of 2023, around 28.9 percent of the world's population - 2.33 billion people-are experiencing moderate or severe food insecurity," he stated. This underscores the urgent need for action to address these challenges worldwide.
Ambassador Berik Aryn from IOFS emphasised a comprehensive approach to sustainable food security. He highlighted Abu Dhabi's summit as a platform for OIC Member States to collaborate on sustainable plans benefiting Africa and beyond.
Innovative Solutions for Food Security

Their participation reinforces Abu Dhabi's role as a hub for innovative solutions aimed at achieving UN Sustainable Development Goal 2: Zero Hunger.
The summit will explore intersections between climate-smart agriculture, modern technology, aid, production technologies, and supply chain management. The aim is to find ways to combat food insecurity effectively through these avenues.
A Legacy of Sustainable Development
