In Dubai, government officials, industry leaders, and experts convened for the World Future Economy Digital Leaders Summit. The event marks the beginning of discussions on AI Compute-Driven economic transformation. Simultaneously, GITEX Global, the largest tech event globally, commenced at Dubai World Trade Centre. The focus was on next-gen semiconductors and data governance, with a theme of 'Global Collaboration to Forge a Future AI Economy'.
The UAE is rapidly adopting AI across various sectors. Last year, its AI market was valued at $3.47 billion. This year's GITEX has seen a 40% increase in international participation, marking its largest edition yet. Europe has a significant presence, with its tech industry expected to grow by 12% by year-end.

Stephane Ouaki from the European Innovation Council discussed Europe's tech ecosystem acceleration. He highlighted how the Council supports transformative innovations by providing entrepreneurs with opportunities to enhance their knowledge and learn from peers. This support aims to boost business growth and benefit national and regional economies.
Ignacy Niemczycki from Poland's Ministry of Economic Development and Technology shared insights on Poland's technological advancements. He stated that culture is crucial in their journey to becoming a tech leader. Poland boasts one of the world's best IT programmers and successful tech entrepreneurs.
Dr. Jaroslaw Kutylowski, CEO of DeepL, spoke about his company's use of large language models (LLMs). "The models that we have been building have all stayed true to our products which has brought us success so far," he said. DeepL has invested in computing technologies and established a data centre in Sweden as part of its growth strategy.
TIME’s 2024 Kid of the Year, Heman Bekele, shared his journey of inventing a potential skin cancer treatment. He recounted how failures in developing his soap product strengthened him and emphasised passion as vital to his career achievements.
GITEX Global's Expansive Reach
GITEX Global is hosting over 6,500 exhibitors, 1,800 startups, and 1,200 investors from more than 180 countries at Dubai World Trade Centre until 18th October. This edition is the most international in its 44-year history.
